Floyd is doing OK. He ate a fair amount yesterday between 6 pm and 11 pm, and a few bites overnight. Not interested this morning, as his Cerenia is wearing off, I'm not surprised.

He is sufficiently PO'd at me this morning to know he's feeling a bit better despite refusing food for now. He would only let me get about half of his subq fluids in as I only have 8 year-old DD to help (he is a strong kicker and can get out of any hold). He had his Cerenia and AM ondan, so hopefully, he'll eat once those kick in. I still have the IV in if needed.

I'm trying to get the S. boulardi in, but not much until appy picks up. When he eats, I'll get in as much as I can.

@Marje and Gracie - his cobalamin level was normal when I did his GI panel in March. I'm not retesting him right now, but gave him a dose of B12 yesterday anyway - cheap and won't hurt. I am waiting on PLI results right now. It was somewhat elevated in March, but he wasn't showing signs then, so I sat in it.

He is on a low P diet, since we know he had CKD, and the increase in P this time may be dehydration. Labs were run before fluids. I'll retest once he's over this episode to see if it needs addressing. Same for HCT and RBC.

Testing ketones today. I only have 2 blood stips left, more on the way from Amazon, so I'm testing urine too.

Thanks, everyone!!

I hope the Cerenia/onda and B12 work it out and he eats again. I think it’s a good sign if he’s feisty enough to refuse fluids! ;)

Is he still having diarrhea too or has that let up a little?

If it is pancreatitis, I understand it’s pretty painful, I had to up Asia’s bupe to get her over the hump. I also think that a possible side effect of bupe is it may be constipating? So it could do double duty for pain/firming up the poo. I don’t know if that’s exactly how it works with the poo, but it sounds good in theory anyway.

Feel better, Floyd! I hope he turns the corner today. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

He just ate some baby food, and maybe he'll some more once I leave him alone.

Diarrhea is letting up a bit. :D

I'm doing bupe every 6 hours at the higher end of the dose. I'll bump it up to every 4 if needed.

Thanks! !

I just had to stop by to see how your boy was doing, I was so worried for you/him last night.

I'm glad he's putting up a fight and being a bit obstreperous, that's a good sign in my book. Hope his P levels improve with improved hydration and that it has the desired effect on his appy.

I'll keep paws crossed for negative ketones.

Floyd, please eat your fuds, and no more funny business.

Floyd... eat yur fudz. :D

Sure sounds like pancreatitis to me but with these cats who knows.

I think you said you were giving the Cerenia via shot? I think it works better but I have to take Gizmo in for the shot so I give pills unless he is already going in.

The Hills A/D is what Gizmo will eat when he refuses all other food. That is my last line of defence for inappetance.

Update: He ate well this morning after his meds kicked in, going into early afternoon, but since then has not touched anything. He will swallow the food if I put it in his mouth.

He's not as bright as this morning, either. I'm wondering if his bupe is sedating him a bit; not common, but can happen in some cats. I wouldnt have noticed on the first dose because it was 11 pm last night. I'm thinking I'll back down his daytime doses a smidge.

On the plus side, the diarrhea seems to be subsiding. ONe small puddle this morning, none since then.

To make matters worse, our civvie isn't eating well. He's acting normally, just not interested. He'll be getting some bloodwork Monday is he doesn't pick up soon.

I wonder if something is going around the house. Sorry he's not as perky this afternoon as he was this morning. I like that +9. How much ondansetron are you giving per dose? Not sure if all tabs are the same size.

Been a couple weeks since the blood draw. Heard anything from MSU yet?

I suppose something could be going around. Civvie was our scarf & barf kitty, but he's been doing great since switching to FF back last summer after Floyd's FD diagnosis. I thought maybe he was just having "sympathy" inappetence, but not sure now.

I've been giving 1 mg of ondansetron (1/4 of a 4 mg). However, his last dose didn't go down after I pilled him - the tiny thing was stuck in his mouth. I re-dosed once I realized that but it's been a few hours and he's still not eating.

Oops! Sorry, I forgot to post that I haven't sent that out yet. I had to order the overnight mailer from MSU and by the time it came, I had decided to switch insulin, so I put it off a bit, then all this.... The serum is sitting in my freezer, so I'll be sending out once he's past this episode. I don't want to jinx it now (send out labs that will come back after.....)

ETA: I'm liking the +9 as well, hope his body gets used to that!!

Gizmo does much better on Torbogisic (vs. Bupe). I don't give him very much 0.2mL but it really seems to make a big difference. Bupe just dopes him up and kills the appy completely . Of course the vets all think I am crazy when I tell them that. Gizmo is my lil sensitive guy, just like his mama.

The torb I gave yesterday literally made me and my tech think he was dying, so maybe he's just sensitive to opioids. I'm going to just keep putting the food in his mouth.

The prescribed torb dosing is 0.58mL . I thought I had killed Gizmo the first time I gave it to him (full dose). Scared me to death. I just backed off and started very small and bumped it up just a tiny bit at a time till I got to 0.2 - 0.25mL. Same happened with Bupe but the smaller dose still causes him not to eat (which is already an issue with panc).

Praying tomorrow all issues are much improved :bighug::cat:
