High yellow # amps, but better than pink! Shes had decent numbers the last few days and I can tell she feels better. The pee piles are a little smaller, still purring a lot, pooping good and grooming also. This am her nor civvie Molly were very hungry, altho they ate at least half their normal amt...?? Im off to work and mom can test while Im gone now so that's a plus! I will have her test before food at +5 today as well. Have a great day everyone.

My mom just called me at work and said she tested 3 times and got 49-51. I am super busy at work(of course) and couldn't talk long, so I had to tell her to feed h/c gravy and then just feed her reg food. She eats at +5. She said she will test again at +6. UGHHHH!!! I cant leave work!!

You gave your mom good instructions. Would your mom be able to test every 30 min. if she see's a number below 50?

Probably not, and that's why I just told her to go ahead and feed. Her nadir is right about +6, so I feel like with the h/c gravy and her reg food, she should be coming up. I just don't know though, and hate to chance that she could be going lower. I will call her back and see what she says. She seemed kinda stressed when she called, and I would expect her to be! She said after the 3rd time, she gave up on getting another one. She thought she was doing something wrong since the numbers were low. She should be getting ready anyway for the +6 test that she said she would get. Will update after I talk to her! Thanks Sienne

I just called her back and had her look at the meter and check the numbers and she said they were 32, 31,...omg!!!! what do I do?? I told her she has to get another test asap!

When Trix drops that low, I have to mix in about a tsp of karo into the HC food to get her up quick.

How long after the HC were the 30's?

If you can use the can lid to press the gravy out, see if you can give her just gravy and karo until she comes up a bit. You don't want to give too much food at once or she might decide she's full.

I came home and tested and she was 119 at + 6.75. There was confusion with my mom when she called me earlier. She couldn't remember the #s and she told me 49 was the lowest test. I had her get the meter and read back the #s and that's when she told me 32 was the lowest. My poor mom was so upset especially because I panicked when she told me. When she first called with the 49, I had her give h/c gravy and feed her reg ff too since it was feeding time. When I found out the real #s I had her test again and she was 173. I was already on my way home when she called with the 173. Now my mom says she thinks maybe the 31, 42 were wrong and she said she got an error once in between. She may have reused the strip, I just don't know. Shes nearly 79 years old and not in good health, and gets upset easy. She feels like she doesn't know whats shes doing with the testing. Anyway, Im here for just a bit longer, and I will get another test or 2 to see which way she is headed.

That's great news!

Your poor Mom...it's wonderful that she's helping you and I'm sure the fact that Chi Chi is your cat makes her extra nervous about it. Maybe once everyone has some time for their nerves to settle, you can discuss the events to figure out what happened and encourage that she's doing a great job by helping you!

She is 218 now at 7.25, so shes headed up and probably to a bounce later Im sure! I will reduce by .25 tonight. Thank you all for your help today!
