Hi Everyone!

Basil's looking good today but is going to HATE me in about 6 hours when we take him to the vet. I called and said we were concerned about a slight upward trend in his numbers and wanted to rule out infections.

Jill--He was on the Clavamox for 7 days, not 5, just in case you were wondering why the weird number of days. We just didn't test his BG every day then and there were only 5 test days on the SS.

I'll report in later with what we learn. Basil has already sussed out that sumpin's up, I believe. I find it hard to think it is a coincidence that he asked for a new catnip banana today just by chance.

Re: 4/28 Basil Update

Well, we just got our power back. It's VERY windy and a big tree came down and took the power lines with it.

We got back from the vet's and it went o-kay. We got Basil an exam, a urinalysis and a CBC, but they have no dental x-rays on the premises.

The vet said two teeth came out and that one was loose and pratically falling out (this I know to be true) and that they examined both to be sure that the entire tooth was removed. So that was all the info I got there. We have to call tomorrow for the test results. He did say the margin of one gum was a little red but not infected and we have to apply a salve to it several times a day.

But, he was singularly unimpressed saying Basil's numbers were great and that anything under 170 with most numbers hovering around 100 would strike him as terrific. We tried to explain that it was the CHANGE not the absolute numbers, but I think he thinks we're kind of cracked.

I really like him. He is a kind and tender man, but I was disappointed today and may have to think about a different vet for the future. We got the tests only because we insisted, I think.

Sorry to hear about the vet, glad you got him home and Basil is ok. Sorry to hear about having no power too, that stinks!! Hope for a good night for you!!!! Sending you positive vines for good test results!!!!!

Hi Lydia, It's good that you went to the vet and got the tests even though the vet doesn't understand our concern about numbers! I hope that you get good test results. Then you can blame the numbers on the food!!
Is Basil at the party this evening? Stu was looking forward to seeing him.

The red margin around his gum could be the culprit! It will be interesting to hear details from Vet!--
Those vets think anything under like 150 is tightly regulated!!! What they dont know!! ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile
Keep doing what you are doing Lydia--You are a great Momma BEAN!!!!!!! HUGS from Us!!

I'm glad the vet didn't find too much else with Basil. I hope his numbers settle down to a better level. Give that purrty face some scritches for me.
