Nice start for Olive today. She ate all of breakfast but less than half of her +3. Depending on what her test reads when I leave, she might be going visiting with me.

Wishing everyone a good day. Prayers for Floyd. Safe travels for Ziggy.

I guess another reducie has been granted. This will make her skyrocket to the moon. Showing no symptoms. Going to wait before I leave I really don't want to take her when she is this low. So much for lev having late nadir. It's the opposite for Olive.

Wow Olive. I hope you can get her to come up soon. Can you rub some maple syrup on her gums? I know it will be messy, but it may help bring her numbers up.

Been doing it. She doesn't like the taste at all, gagging and I can't have her vomiting now. Spit back the icing. Put some on the food and she ate it so doing that. No symptoms, that's good.

I hope Olive comes up for you. If I need to go some where, seems like Buddy takes a dive. The only wet food Buddy will eat is MC FF, so when I give him some to bring his BG up, he gets too high.

Olive is a beautiful kitty, it was wonderful of you to adopt her.

I think she didn't want you to go visiting without her:rolleyes:

I'm glad she came back up for you, looks like she's been clearing the bounces pretty quickly, so I'm sure if she bounces she will get back to business pretty sharpish.

Looks like when she earns a reducie she does so with an earlier drop, if this were me I would look to get a +3 when I could, to give myself a heads up.

Ooo, and someone (cannot remember who) said they discovered using potato flakes. They are feeding raw and added the potato flakes as a source of carbs. Just makes sure it is just potatoes w/o flavorings

+3 were always food spikes for her. She didn't eat her +3 meal today so that contributed to this.

My honey was bad so I didn't use it. It's on the list to be replaced. Karo always made Smokey sick, I know Olive might be ok with it but figured the maple syrup would be just fine. The 6% carb usually works for her but she never went this low either. I will also pick up some potatoe flakes. That's a good idea. Would I give them dry or moist?

I called my dad to tell I wouldn't be there. I didn't want him to think I was ignoring him especially since I didn't go with him for his transfusions the other day. I'll go tomorrow and bring him a treat and get his laundry done. I'm the only person who visits him. He doesn't even mention my sis or grandchildren anymore. Guess he finally realises they aren't going to bother. So sad.

Stacy (&Asia) has been using potato flakes. I was about to suggest you cook a potato and mash it to see if she''d eat that. Add butter if needed.

Don't have potatoes in house. I never would have thought of that. But butter I have is that good for raising glucose? Or just make the taters taste better? I think we are okay now. I will be doing some shopping tomorrow. I now know what she likes and doesn't like. And new ideas to try should she cliff dive again.

The butter would make it taste better to Olive I think. The potato flakes could probably be mixed in with her wet food. Easy to keep on hand too.

It was just a thought, if she is nadiring early when she goes for a reduction, then she will likely be onsetting a little earlier too, and what you might well see is a drop at +3 with respect to PS or in fact she might even be dropping, either way it might give you an indication of what she has planned for the cycle ahead. I always found that forewarned was forearmed and it allowed me to stay ahead of the insulin and be a little more in control of the situation. Might be worth an experiment.

Here is her post . I also found a great way to make the food she normally eats a little higher carb. I added some dehydratedpotato flakes to it (and enough water to compensate). I know some of the instant mashed potato probably has herbs or chemicals in it, but I got Bob’s red mill which is only dehydrated potato. I added 3/4 tsp the first time I tried it, it worked, but may have been too much. The second time I added 1/4 tsp and it was great.

I also saw it was mentioned in 2011 recommended by a posters vet when poster was trying to get glucose up.
