Yesterday I mentioned that my DH had had to deal with some Zekey behavioral problems. I do on occasion as well but not to the extent that my DH experienced this past week. This morning Zeke was a very calm, cool little kitty until the +2 test. He was amorously rubbing on my arm and then the dreaded love bite to the inside of the upper arm . Of course, I jerked and yelled out “Hey, that hurt” to which Zeke responded with a very nasty and forceful wide open mouth HISS.
What the….? That Zekey – he can be such a little psycho sometimes.
Well Zekey, Ivan and Mia are still battling the diarrhea. I would describe the current state of poo as pudding poo. They’re going on 3 days with this issue. They’ve had two days of fortiflora. So far, not sure we’ve seen much improvement. We’ll give it one more day. Zeke and Mia seem to be taking it in stride. They're still as active as they normally are and the appy's the same as well.
Mr. Ivan (Mia’s littermate) went into heart failure last July (same month Zeke dx’d with FD; obviously not a good month for us, to say the least), after having received injections of DepoMedrol and covenia, and was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy. He’s currently on Furosemide and Enalapril (daily) and cerenia (every other). At that time he’d lost about 2 lbs in less than 2 weeks (from 16.8 to 14.10 lbs). He has continued to lose weight and at his vet appointment last weekend was 12.5 lbs. Due to all the weight loss within the last year, we try to monitor his weight very closely. Unfortunately with this latest bout of diarrhea, Ivan has not wanted to eat much the past 24 hours. We’re concerned, and will be even much more so if his appy doesn’t improve soon. We're worried about adding any appy enticements as they may aggregate his diarrhea. Even the fortiflora didn’t help this morning. Any suggestions?
Well yesterday I started giving Zeke a +8/+9 snack (both AM & PM) in an effort to bring down his PSBGs. His PSBG was still higher than his BG at snack time. Do I just continue giving the snack and only discontinue if his PSBGs start to trend up from how they’d been prior to introduction of the snack? Does it sometimes time a few days before the benefit of the snack starts to show up?
Here's a recap of today and what’s been going on with Zeke the last week.
