If you find that you really see a pattern that the MC is making him higher and keeping him higher (not just from today) then you might want to consider doing the feeding but just not using MC. If he's really carb sensitive, then LC may do the job to slow steeper drops and prevent bouncing. Being flat is not bad at all (why I love Levemir) but you want flat in lower numbers (blues and greens). But you will get there for sure! This is such a process (a marathon). You are doing a great job and it's going to get better. He's not liking those extra carbs. :/

According to Dr Pierson's list, his low carb is 4-5% and his medium carb is 14%. His readings were 193 all three times that I tested him. My husband thought something must be wrong with our meter, so I tested him two minutes later. It was 214. I had company over today, so wasn't able to get any more tests in.Do you know what the difference is in the carb percentages by any chance?
Double check those foods with the carb calculator. Purina owns friskies and fancy feast and the pro plan we were using. The formulas changed and so did the carb percentages at least on our pro plan. That 14% may be higher now...list is olderAccording to Dr Pierson's list, his low carb is 4-5% and his medium carb is 14%. His readings were 193 all three times that I tested him. I just checked that calculator but I don't think I did it right. It says that one of his normal LC ones with minimal gravy (that he bounces on) is 14%, and that the new MC one with lots of gravy (that is keeping him higher with less bouncing) is 12%.Double check those foods with the carb calculator. That's weird just make sure the numbers for each item are in correct box ..protein...fat...etc... and make sure your looking at dry carb matter percent to the right not the wet matter carbsI just checked that calculator but I don't think I did it right. As a rule they are both considered mc and too high for regular LC.... this could be part of issue with higher numbers. Though he is still diving. LM dove hard today even with the 5% so it can happen
I get that! Maybe next time you go out use the calculator while shopping and see if in the brand he likes maybe different flavors different carbs. That's what I did. I finally just moved him over to raw and make it myself now. Still buy some cause civvie wont eat raw. Thankfully LM will eat itWe have a Walmart and a Tractor Supply locally, both of which are short on cat food. Anything else would have to be shipped to us, and with living in a rural area, that isn't always a great option. I don't know how I would go about changing his diet to another kind. He's also kinda picky. I'd hate to buy a bunch of food, wait for it to be shipped to me, and then him not like it.
Chewy btw is great about returns of you go that route and order.I don't have time right now to read through the whole last many posts... but I would try to find something that is around 10% carbs and not higher... so on the higher end of what is considered "low carb." That's a middle ground. Also, check with Chewy about the food carb percentages. As I was saying the other day... that list is from 2014 and lots has changed since then. Either way, it just seems like the food is a little too high in carbs for Taz.
