Lower pink this morning, maybe bounce is finally clearing! VERY hungry Rupert this morning, quite zoomy and vocal. Making wurbling noises as he ran up and down the stairs letting me know it was breakfast time. Clear eyes. Seems happy enough so hopefully today we'll see the bounce clear and we'll get some action this weekend.

Hope all is well in LL today.

Hi guys .. I'm glad to see those much higher numbers out of his system .. He could take this low pink down another notch or two before the day is over .. Glad to hear he is in good spirits .. have a great weekend!

Rupert 'decided' to clear his bounce... in true dramatic Rupert fashion again. sigh. Here we go again. can only assume he will rocket up from this by end of the day. Given that he's slid so far so fast I can't think that I can prevent a big bounce. Geesh, I wish I could figure out some sort of pattern here. I'm happy, sort of... , just hope he stays blue and surfs blue all day....this time I don't want to over carb. will watch closely to see what happens next. ohmygod_smile

Rupie!! I do believe you are going to steal that diving king status from Mannie. At least you are experienced with this now, Pip ;-) GREAT job getting the +2.

Sorry I haven't been on your condo recently.....but I do scroll through and see how he's doing.

Rupert...I'd love to see you stop bouncing!! Wouldn't that be fun?????

Good catch...hope he has a great cycle.

Hi Pip. Boy, Rupert is more exciting even, than Checkers is, was.
Now if he would come down, nice and slow, he and Checks can play together. :-D

I guess Rupie is in superman mode again today. He saw that Checkers was already on the green so decided to hunt him down there! Looks like the slide is slowing down now. Should we start the betting pool again as to what number he throws at me tonight?? humungo bounce predicted once more. sigh. He sure looks amazing lately though. Haven't seen his coat this sleek, shiny and jet black in ages. He's filled out (hopefully not too much!).. weighed him and he's 14.4lbs, up a pound from his diagnosis. Don't want him to gain anymore, vet seemed happy with his 14lbs when she saw him last. He's just come in and is sitting in the primo spot on the couch next to me here on the laptop... probably knows he's gonna get tested in another 20 mins or so. Am stalling going in to work until I can see that he's levelling out.

I don't know how you handle these as well as you do, Pip! Ru bounced a lot but NOTHING like ol' Rupe here.

tee hee. thanx! I have to laugh about it and use my twisted sense of humor to see the funny side or I'd just plain cry! somedays I do just cry! BUT, I'm learning that as long as Rupert seems happy and healthy then it's all good. He's alive, he's sassy, the numbers are just numbers.. I guess. (that's what I keep telling myself.. although if he continues this bouncing we will seriously consider switching to Lev).

+6 and back to blue. Hope this isn't the beginnings of a super rocket launch..... I predict high pink by PMPS (lets hope he proves me wrong!). not a bad short little surf for rupie today though.

You're only allowed about one prediction a week right and you had that one this morning on the bounce clearing so I'm hoping you're wrong about the mega bounce hitting tonight too

well I was wrong about it being pink, nope, bounced right back into red. sigh. this is getting pretty frustrating I gotta tell ya. so.. trying to see patterns.. he tends to get a few nice lows and then two days of pink/red high... then another few hours of decent, and then two days of high... the bouncing is madness. Hopefully the new vet knows about Lev and maybe is wiling to switch him. guess we'll see what happens tonight. I just can't seem to slow him down.. it's like the insulin doesn't work, doesn't work, doesn't work.. WHOA seriously works.... then doesn't work again. I know it's all about shed, and dives and bounces.. but wow.. just don't get how he can dive so rapidly. guess we'll see what happens tonight.

off to clean stalls and vent my frustrations on horse poop!

i'm wondering if you saw my post above about feeding HC at +1 and +2, at the first sign of the dive. i know you're experimenting with feeding the curve. you have several different factors you can tinker with: the volume of food, the carb percentage of the food, and the timing.

if you've been giving LC at +1 and +2, perhaps either switching to a higher carb percent or increasing the volume of food. if you increase the volume, you need to take it off elsewhere so he doesn't gain weight.

we generally suggest people give a full year to one insulin before switching to another. there are some cats that bounce less on lev, but there are plenty of cats that bounce on it as well. it isn't a guarantee by any stretch.

the general tactic in treating bouncy kitties is to keep bringing them into green numbers so their liver will get used to it.
