He is being very nasty with the ear poking lately. angry(2)_cat

Today, probably since I pulled him from under the bed to test him after Thomas chased him under there. Didn't know such a large cat could flatten and get under a bed so quickly. Poor thing.
Thomas even harassed him thru the screen door after I put him in there for his safety, before I left for work.
Hopefully he is calmer when I get home tonight. He is taking 1/2 tab of prozac now. (10mg tablets)
PMPS not good, I got bloody...ack

Re: 4/27 Mickey amps err

Who's taking the prozac, Thomas or Mickey?

The only way I can test Kiki is if I have a pile of temptation treats  This has not helped her BGs come down. Going to try to get her addicted to chicken treat instead.

Re: 4/27 Mickey amps err

I empathize - we are now Prozac Nation (as per the book title) for real, kitties included, but Prozac is among the older pharmaceuticals in that space. Also Temptation nation -- no need to get Biblical, but I also use Temptation to soothe Tom's jitters about ear pokes. I even have a complicated rationalization why it is ok. I have had major problems giving meds to Wendell, a civvie pal of Tom's and there is nothing I can do short of medicating him w downers to get anything in. I am afraid of Prozac for cats for other reasons having to do with feline cognitive differences from beans.

Anyway, none of this was helpful I am sure, but you might wish to look at other alternatives. Diazepams (Valium, etc) are used by groomers -- not that they are any more sophisticated than Prozac.

Mickey is now on prozac..for a couple of weeks now. I increased from 1/4 tab to 1/2 thank goodness because it is an oval pill, cut down the middle. Almost impossible to get a quarter from the half without wasting every cut.

I always have a pile of freeze dried chicken or real infront of him while getting pokes, last couple of days have been near impossible. I cannot do the burrito thingy either. It took myself and a vet tech at my house to get him a hygene shave and a rear bath. Me on waist up and her in the back. He is SOOO strong.

Mickey is very easy to pill tho. He has been pilled since about 6 months for something or another. The prozac, I cannot see any difference in him at all...Still nasty, aggressive, afraid of the other cats, pooping where ever when not locked up. If I don't see a difference soon I will not use it anymore. Maybe I will take it ...LOL just kidding!!!
So valium may be a good idea..Sheesh, I will try anything at this point.
