Hey Steph, I missed your thread yesterday and just caught up. Poor Chuck with the ear problem! @carfurby , can relate to the ongoing ear stuff. She might have something to add to help you. I wonder if the itching and the stinging can be keeping his numbers up ?

Furball has chronic ear problems. Right now I am fighting an ear infection from where she scratched herself. I have been using this (http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Only-Natural-Pet-Ear-Wash/999101.aspx) to clean her ears and this (http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/PetAlive-Ear-Dr/230011.aspx) for the infection. Maybe one of these might help Chuck and be gentler on his ears.

Sometimes I put a little extra on his ears and rub it all over his ear. They get dry too so it helps keep them soft. I could try putting it at the opening of the ear canal and hope some melts into it. There's no chance of me using a qtip in his ear... He needs to be put in a grooming sack because he'll slice up your arm with his back feet.

I'm sure the surrounding towns can HEAR him in a grooming sack. He is very vocal when getting his ears done. It hurts and scratches it for him all at the same time. They wanted to sedate him at one appt. I wasn't nice about what the techs needed to grow a set of... They got it done. He doesn't bite but he has shredded a grooming sack or two.

Poor Chuck! Do they make Kevlar grooming sacks?
