Who is this kitty who looks just like Billie, wears green and blue, and breaks bounces in one cycle?? She has been looking really great in the past few days (antijinx!) and I'm so happy for her! I don't know what's making the difference - maybe she's getting over the pancreatitis flare.

She's doing very well tonight - nice numbers, nice appy, and normal poo! :) All great stuff.

I am half asleep and setting an alarm for one more test - I will visit condos tomorrow! I hope everyone is doing well. Sending vines to the kitties and beans needing vines.
 
Elise, I haven't tried cutting back again yet but I'm thinking about it in the next day or two if everything keeps going well. Paws crossed.
 
I always keep the ondansetron going for a bit longer as well and like you add it back if Max's appetite isn't normal. Billie does seem to be feeling much better and that is great!

I have a question for @tiffmaxee @Amy&TrixieCat and anyone else who has experience with pancreatitis. I'm wondering what causes it to flare up sometimes, and then what causes those flare ups to subside. It seems pretty mysterious to me, and I am just trying to understand it a little better. I know that stress can be a factor but at least for Billie, nothing has changed recently that would cause stress as far as I know. Any insight is much appreciated!
 
I wish I knew what causes flare ups...and I can only speculate about Trix. Stress does seem to be one factor for her - she seems to get pretty sick a few days after each and every vetty visit, even though she doesn't SEEM stressed at the time. As a result, my vet and I have agreed to keep her visits to a bare minimum. But t is a big mystery to me, too....

My vet has also said that now they are finding that almost 50% of p-titis cases are actually caused by bacteria, and resolve when treated with ABs.
 
No insight on the p-titis (thank goodness), but I'm glad Billie is feeling better, looking great and breaking those bounces. All very good signs. Sounds like the "new" Billie is a happier, healthier one. :)
 
It really seems to be an individual factor. Some cats seem to have frequent, recurrent bouts. The better you get at seeing the start of a flare up and the quicker you jump on managing it, the shorter the flare up. When Gabby was first diagnosed, she had pancreatitis and to the best of my knowledge, that's been the one and only time (and I'm currently knocking wood -- but then again, who's superstitious?)

Thank you all for the input! Rhiannon, thank you for dramatic cat...she does have Billie's eyes...hmmm ;)

I went back through Billie's SS and noticed that her appy issues started a few days after I got back from being out of town...I wonder if she was stressed while I was gone and that triggered something. Totally just a guess, but interesting to wonder about. Amy, I'm also curious about the bacteria involvement. I wonder if it's worth trying an AB if she seems to have a flare up again.

In any case, I'm very happy that she seems to be doing better now! I will definitely be proactive with the ondansetron if she seems to be "off" at all. I'm going to keep her on it for a couple more good appy days before seeing how she does without it.
