Hi everyone. Welcome to BigMac's condo. He is a cool dude at 137 this morning on a dose of 1.00u Levemir.

BigMac says yikes! There are wild and crazy storms going on at the moment and we have lost power. (I'm using iPad to connect to Internet.) Something quite messy must be going on for the area since our land line circuits are also busy and I can't call out. Weird.

Anyway we have been homeless for a long time so this condo is like a hospitality suite, ok?
I like chatter and I don't need any advice.

Re: 4/27 BigMac AMPS 137

Hey CD and Big Mac,
When did you go back on the juice? Just today??
Awesome about your storms. We had terrible thunderstorms last night with tons of rain and our cellar "lake" has greatly expanded. But we still have power (anti jinx), even though important roads are closed. Interesting that your IPad works even when everything is out. That's good to know (I have one, too).
So, batten down the hatches and hang in there.

Re: 4/27 BigMac AMPS 137

Hi guys ... Just checked out big mac's SS .. quite a bout of yellow and now some nice blues and greens .. Sorry to hear you lost power from your storms .. man, they are everywhere .. storms are one of my biggest fears ... hope no damage was done around your area ..

Re: 4/27 BigMac AMPS 137

Hi Ella, yes the iPad is a real lifeline when there is no power... Like right now. I have the 3G version so it automatically connects via cellular service when the Wi-Fi is unavailable. I can sign up for just a month at a time instead of the yearly contracts that cell providers normally insist on selling to us.

I'm good as long as the battery holds. I have 66% at the moment so I better start conserving. The area must have been hit hard since I still can't get through to the power company to report the outage.

See ya' later everyone! Those of you in the storm front's path... Stay safe!

Re: 4/27 BigMac AMPS 137

Storms are supposed to move into this area today. Hopefully they've lost their strength.

BigMac reminds me of Donovan (since his dad is a Maine Coon). Had a tough time giving him his Clavamox this morning :-|. I had been giving it directly, but then started mixing it with baby food. Well this morning he didn't fall for that trick, so he got Clavamox/babyfood glop syringed into his mouth. Sorry Donny, gotta do it. His dental is on Friday.

I have been wanting to continue my Donovan/Butthead update condo, but then there was all this unfortunate drama with puking/liquipooing/ill kitties, and I didn't want to add to that. I will start a new condo soon.

Big Mac...what you doing back on the juice buddy?

Beautiful day here in Tucson today! Now if I can just get these blasted contractors all gone and reclaim our home! Hope Ella gets her basement dry soon.

Re: 4/27 BigMac AMPS 137

thanks so much for the help this morning - just feels like we're in a transition time and what i *think* i know might not be right.

hope your power gets turned back on. it's a weird feeling being disconnected when we're all used to being very connected!

Nice kitty kitty!

You know another thing you can't do (shouldn't do) during a power outage? Dump an unfinished bowl of lumpy cat food down the drain and expect to turn on the disposer. Duh...

I'm so glad I have a battery back-up supply. I am able to recharge the iPad to keep connected, but it can't go much longer. Other than that it is hard to do much. No washing, no vacuuming (who am I kidding?) and now it's getting darker outside again. Big dark stormy skies.

I am thinking of Jill too. Where she lives it was bad last night and again today. Wild weather.

Time to conserve battery power.

Hi CD    My heart and emotions are doing much better than yesterday. Boohoo day ohmygod_smile So you have a mac(laptop?) and an ipad? I can't seem to justify getting an ipad with the iphone and the macbook pro. They look so neat though.

Hi to everyone. Hope the weather perks up and contractors leave already.

Henry the adopticat is going back to the vets tomorrow. He's been hiding a lot the past couple days and I found the start of his tail near his body is swollen. He doesn't do happy tails and keeps it up next to his butt most of the time. He smells kind of poopy too. Asking around it could be an abscess or maybe an impacted anal gland. He is still sniffly and sneezy. I can't get L-Lysine gel up here. Went out and bought a few different kinds of fancy feast to tempt him to eat some wet food. I did the silliest thing though - I just out of habit got the three low carb kinds. Why the heck did I do this? ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile What kind should I have tempted him with? (I got chicken pate, turkey and giblet and liver and chicken pate). I could kick myself.

Karrie---Vet just suggested that I feed Copper kitten food, which is lc, but has high fat--Copper has eaten it several times today(whooo hooo) so maybe try it with adoptocats?--Or you can always crush a temptation on top of reg ff lc, as we know that works--
HEY All of you out there with the storms--BE SAFE!!! Hugs from us!

CD Hey buddy, so you are back, Ok we are glad glad glad to have you!!Gigantic Hugs from Us!!!!!

The sun has been shining all day, but the sky looks threatening. We had terrible storms last night and our cellar lake is much expanded. It's impossible to keep up with it! In the meantime, our area has been issued a flood warning and possible evacuation order. The river is so high that it is about to go over the bridge that connects our part of the village to the rest of it. If they close the bridge there will be no way to get out to the highway! They would also shut off the power and the water. I don't think the houses here are in danger, it's just being able to get somewhere that would be the problem. I'm getting together an evacuation kit for Rusty.

At least I have my 3G IPad if I need to communicate!! (and my IPhone). I guess I am "I"ready!!

Ella

Hi CD,

It's great to see a BigMac condo :-D

Miss Emily update - I started her on injectable Prednisolone, as I am having trouble getting her to take pills in the Pill Pockets. She isn't having a very good day today. She hasn't been eating, barely even a Temptation or two

I was at tbp today. Apparently CNN was in the building filming a piece for the Anderson Cooper show, and I missed it. I was upstairs in a classroom getting refresher training today ohmygod_smile

I have finally been able to donate some of Bear Man's old Aranesp (anemia medication) to another kitty. My vet has another anemic CRF kitty, and I ma going to give it to the other client. I could never bring myself to throw it out

Karrie, I don't think you need L-Lysine gel. I didn't even know it came in gel. We use the tablets, cut them in half, crush them into a powder, and add them to Rusty's food (always with a little water). We've only had to use it one day, and it helped a lot.
I hope that the vet will be able to help Henry tomorrow. The little guy must be hurting. Is he constipated?

Linda: Sending healing vines for Miss Emily. Too bad you missed CNN. Good to hear that Bear Man's medicine can be used for another kitty in need.

We're still here. The bridge they closed was not the one I was concerned about. They are going to have a special release of water over the dam and had to close the bridge downstream from the dam. I hope that everyone in the path of the storms (Tennessee!) will stay safe. CD, do you need to get to higher ground?

Ella

wow, cd - big mac is happy and you're being home to a lot of people today! nice of you to host! can i impose & talk to karrie too?

karrie, i had to have anya's behind shaved. she has very long, very fluffy hair - it had gotten tangled up in poo and was actually blocking her so she couldn't even go. a groomer did it for us - fairly quick & easy, and now i'll take her in every month or so to have it trimmed.

hope the weather calms down and you get your electricity back up and all running. is your insulin ok in the fridge?

Hi Carolyn!

Nice to see you and BigMac. Looks like April is agreeing with him, nice blues and greens. Hope you get your power back soon with your battery running out on the ipod. But what a nice thing to have around.

Had a chuckle on the lumpy cat food. :-D Stay safe with the storms everyone.

jan and sara

Karrie: agree on having fur around his bo-hiney shaved in case it has gotten matted and also have his anal glands checked..good thought. You can also get L-lysine powder to put in their water. It colors the water yellow but is tasteless.

Thinking of all our LL friends in icky weather areas. Hope Barb/Checkers will be ok and also Jill. Hope no more flooding basement issues at Ella and Edwards.

Hi you guys......did you sneak into LL and rent a condo? I know that Big Mac's condo at the falls is waiting for his return....so, let's see if he can make it back there soon!
You know, Raja had a long talk with me to today....she said that to the kitties like Mac and herself, (she said she calls him "Mac") it isn't a big deal to be back here on the juice. She said that they just want to feel good, and it it means taking a bit a insulin again, then so be it. They are all just fine with that. It's the Beans who get bummed out about it...
She told me that they have a special club for themselves...but couldn't tell me any more about it...it's top secret!

And speaking of Raja...she is In the darn cat carrier again, sitting next to me here in the computer room. DH could NOT believe it when he saw her. I can't believe it. She is really a funny one....keeps me laughing all the time...

((CD & Big Mac)) Glad Big Mac is doing so nicely....and glad that you have plenty of seating here in this condo...looks like there are lots of people visiting!!
Oh...is talking about the weather a prerequisite? :-| We are having a gorgeous day and evening but it is a big windy here....
(how was that? Is that acceptable? That's all I have atm.....)......

Only kidding!

but I hope your weather settles down a whole lot for you! Wild day for you all there...be safe!

Hi, CD,

How nice to have a chance to visit you and BigMac.

Those storms rattled through, didn't they? Tornado sirens went off at 5:30. I slept right through them. Fortunately DH didn't, but it all passed.

Stay safe, and thank goodness for the technology that keeps us all linked to one another.

Hi Carolyn: Was looking for you over on FB - talked to Cindy and things were a mess when I spoke with her - she said she hadn't heard from you. I tried to call to see if you were okay this evening but the phone rang once and then went dead - Cindy said there was no power when I spoke with her.

So glad to see you're okay - stay safe. Sorry to see your big guy is needing a little juice but am sure it won't last long. Hope everything is okay with you.

Still hoping to see you in August at Carol's. Try to make it, okay?

Sending hugs - please stay safe.

Emmy & Dude (& Mittsi too)

Hi CD!
hoping you and family safe and sound.
Big Mac - you are looking so good!
You got the bestest Pokey-Mom ( ) to help you along!

Hope your home made it through the storm okay CD. We were supposed to get blasted with crazy winds last night (and a rare tornado watch up here). Thankfully it was a dud.

Off to the vets with King Henry this morning.

Hoping you are all okay CD....how was your night? I hope things are calmer there now....and that your electricity will be back to normal soon....sending hugs...thinking of yous! :YMHUG:
