Good thing we are going to the vets this morning and getting new insulin because I just ran out. Tried to fill syringe and wasted 5 of them and kept getting half air. Not enough left in the cartridge to get a dose out without being 50% air.So he is going to be getting insulin a few hours late this morning. Hopefully the vet will prescribe Levemir and the pharmacy will have it and I can get it in him no more than 2 hours late..stay tuned!!

Hi guys ... mid yellow isn't a bad place to start the day .. hopefully he can get that shot in before to long to keep these lower numbers coming .. have a great day guys!

JUST POSTED THIS IN LEVEMIR LAND:

Hi Everyone I am Arnie's Dad...Just got my Arnie switched from Lantus to Levemir this morning. Got the five pack of flex pens but I am a bit confused. I just read that an in-use pen should not be stored in the refridgerator?? But I am not using the pen with the special needles and using it to measure the doses. I am using it the same way I used the Lantus cartridge with a U-100 syringe..so do I keep it in the fridge or not? Need advice FAST! Cause I put it in the fridge for now!!Arnie's Current Spreadsheet

nO ANSWER YET....Does anyone know whether I should take it out of the fridge? CONFUSED!!

Got answer in Levemir forum...so what now I need to move my condo there? I don't know them people and I like it here

Anyway I am just all confused  but HAPPY that my vet agreed to switching. She said I should start him out on 2 units twice a day even though he was getting 4.5 of Lantus..she recommends that I do not even check BG for a week and then do a curve  like that is gonna happen? I mean not checking him  she so funny!!

Arnie does also once again have a MILD ear infection. It's not bad like it was before so she gave me some organic stuff (no-steroid) hopefully it works. I also showed her a lump that I found on his side. She wants to remove it which is going to cost me around $600...can't afford that right now but I will have it removed when I can afforrd it!! I am skeptical about this 2 unit dose but we shall see!! Now I can FINALLY go to bed. Been up since 2:30PM yesterday, worked both jobs last night and then the vet trip. I am exhausted and beyond tired!! TTYL friends!! :-D

Re: 4/27 Arnie PMPS 419

Well of course my first thought was this 2.0 dose is WAY too low, BUT I do have to consider:

A: He has had higher numbers on twice as much Lantus

B: He did get insulin 2 hours late today.

C: He went through a LOT at the vets today...Blood Work, Uninalysis, Nails Clipped, All kinds of poking and cutting and strangers in his face.

I will give the 2.0 dose of Levemir a fair chance!!

Hi Bob!
No you don't have to leave LL, I see you updated your profile so thats good!
But you may want to add LEV to your main subject line for the next little while so that it stands out and others know you just switched.

Good luck with the Lev, I've heard good things about it.
((((hugs))) to Arnie for putting up with all the poking around at the vets!
