Hi everyone,

Well I raised his dose and as I raise his does his numbers keep getting
higher not lower
I am so confused
I am starting to think I need to back down....
any ideas or input would be great

this is getting so frustrating!!

Thanks
Denise and Shakes

You're right, you havn't seen any progress for a while. If you want to do a rebound check and start over at 1unit, I would support you.

I don't have much experience, but I'm with your gut feeling of going a little lower. There were lots of nice yellows and you got blues before with a lower dose.

do you t hink I should go all the way back to one unit
I was going to start backing down
I have never done tis before so i am not sure what to do

the needles ihave do not have any half markers so I have been measuring it with a
measuring tape for the middle units, so i really dont think i could raise by .20
(doesnt help that I can barely see!!)

thanks for your help

Why not get the needles with the half unit markings? I could never have managed without them, even though I did use multiple pair of reading glasses at the same time!

my vet had ordered and given my the needles I have
when I re order I will ask for the needles with the half markers

oh gosh, the 1u do-over makes me really nervous - she only got greens on Lantus when up to 3.5u

When you go back to a dose like 1.5 it's clear U-curves, and no obvious rebound #s, so it doesn't make sense to me to lower below the last known dose that was making nice U-curves. The only day really that the curve looks wonky to me is 4/23, and that's more flattish than super-wonky, so could suggest too little insulin.

If it were me I think I would be raising the dose every third day (schedule & ability to monitor for safety permitting), unless there's something I'm missing?

First, go to Walmart and get the syringes that have 1/2 unit markings.

You can either do a rebound check and start over at 1 unit or you can do a reverse rebound check and drop down 1 unit to 1.75. Either one will tell you if your dose is too high.

But the more insulin I give him the higher his numbers and curves go
I was going to start dropping him say .25 or .50 of a unit at a time
and see what kind of numbers I can get

I dont want to go any higher as his numbers go higher when I raise his insulin

Hmmm, really the #s look about the same to me on the different doses. You are closer to the data though, and if your gut is telling you something you should follow that.

I have to work tomorrow but I am off on THursday
so what if I drop him about .25 unit tomorow then Thursday I can drop more and
this way I can watch what he is doing
That would make me feel better
I work too far away to come home at any point during the day

Thanks!

You got some decent action on 1.5u and on 2.5u.

If you're going to do a check I would go for it and get it over with and find out right away.

Which ever one you choose will tell you pretty quickly if you are right or not.
