Super late start for me today. Olive is leaving lots of belly fur wherever she lays. It's not matted, her belly isn't irritated, she isn't scratching its just falling out. And it's only her belly. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? She does not have any bald spots either. She does have this waxy spot on her tail I can't get rid off. Someone mentioned stud tail, I mentioned it to vet last week when Trip was in. He said stud tail right away without seeing her. He said it could wait until her appointment in mid May as it's not an emergency. None of it bothers her, just me picking up tufts of fur constantly before Trip can eat it, which she has.

Dad agreed to transfusion. After tons of phone calls btw doctors, me, him, nurses he had the 1st yesterday as it was too late to do both units. Today he is having 2nd unit. He has to think about everything and doesn't get it, that when he does decide it takes time to make all the arrangements, mostly the transport arrangements because of their schedule with the vans and drivers.

Doodles hair was falling out in the beginning when he had neuropathy and before we got the IBD/ food allergy DX. Once I got the food allergies under control his fuzz grew back and no more bald spots. Of course I pretty much kept him in a lion cut after that since it's so hot here and easier for me to give his shots. Wonder if it's the weather change and seasonal allergies for Olive. She is imported from the North

I don't know if this is related or not but decades ago my sister rescued a Maine Coon cross who'd been living in a terrible hoarding situation - mess of mats, etc. He blossomed with good care but went through the strangest period of shedding out all his wooly undercoat until he seemed to be covered only in his guard hair coat. The wooly coat eventually grew back in and from then on he was a magnificent specimen!

Love that. My own lil immigrant. I'm hoping that's all it is (shedding), Tux isn't having the issue though. Olive has the double coat and Tux doesn't so that could be why.

Hubby decided he is going to cut some branches of the humongous oak in front of house. These branches are over the roof and pretty much dead. Of course he won't ask the neighbor for use of the bucket truck. It's sort of a strong breezy day. The extension ladder is going to fully extended. :nailbiting: Told him I need to fix my hair so I'm decent in case we make trip to ER.

Could be the same thing here. It's just her belly which has very fine downy hair that curls. When her bib gets wet (from water bowl) and after she groom's it, it gets curly also.

So cutting branches are out. The extension ladder won't reach. Have to call in the professionals. Yeah!!!! He is going to do some others though so I will be on ladder watch.

And you didn't even have to squint!!!

OK Olive....that's deep enough.....swim towards shore a little. Only thing out there in those deep waters is hungry sharks!

Nice surf! Interesting that @Doodles & Karen said something about food allergies because Gizmo has all but stopped doing this since his switch to duck (over chicken/turkey). But he had this issue a lot (most of his life). He eats his own fur :banghead:.

I guess when we go to vet in a few weeks I bring up possible allergies. It's only her belly fur because it's the only place she has cream color hair. And with the stud tail it could be an allergy. It will be really hard to keep her away from certain food if she's allergic. The others don't like duck, venison, 2 eat lamb 1 doesn't. Haven't tried duck with Olive yet. Food allergies will be worse to deal with than FD.
