Hi,

Previous post

So Zokni has been on 0.1U dose for 4 days and doing good on it. Today, he hit the 50 mark. I wasn't able to test him as frequently as needed around that time, so I don't know if he dropped below, but he was hanging out around those numbers for some hours, at least between +5 and +8.
I don't really know what to make of his numbers. He has been pretty irregular.
In terms of what might influence his increased daytime numbers, he does beg a lot, so I feed him throughout the day because he doesn't eat his calories in 2-3 sittings. He only eats max 3 tbsp of food at once, and that's when he's starving. Otherwise he'll leave it and beg for fresh food a couple of hours later. Today, this didn't happen, and he dropped near 50. Maybe that's the reason?
So I wonder if maybe the dose is good, just that he should eat more and less often?
Anyway, as it's he was in the 50s, I'd rather get some advice!

I should say, he does get some dry snacks... I am trying to avoid it, but he has a hard time eating his meal and even though the fortiflora powder is like magic, sometimes it's not enough and I have to sprinkle some crushed up crunchies for him to touch his food. Maybe that also causes some pikes in his BG? Because over the night, I never feed him anything and I usually wake up to pretty decent low numbers...

It very well could be the small amount of crunchies that is spiking his BG. But it's not like he's spiking high-- he's still within normal cat BG. He's looking great!

I'd keep with this dose for a bit longer, and try to get him to eat his fuds without the dry crunchies. Does he like freeze-dried treats? Those might be a low-carb way to give him the texture he's craving.
