Re: 4/25 Tiki AMPS 345, PMPS 340

HAHAHA!!!! I've considered it, believe me!!! Was thinking of upping him tomorrow (with my crappy syringes that have no half marks, should be fun!)

He's also driving me crazy bugging me to feed him all the time. Every morning he starts in on me 2 hours before bfast time, at night he is a little less insistant. Is he really starving or is he just working the dumb tired person who generally gives in so I can continue sleeping. His numbers are way up so I believe he is hungry but don't want to give him more food if ultimately it makes his numbers higher.

Does he have food in the night? Like around his +8 time frame....
do you have an autofeeder ? Or try making him a catsickle .... it should be thawed out around +6....
unless he's willing to eat it frozen....
( shadow surprised me the first time I made one and ate on it at +4 and she's always had her food heated before FD)

Prior to going back on insulin I fed him three times a day. Once in the morning, another when I got home from work and another when I went to bed. Each time he got one can of FF classics. However, when we went back on insulin I started feeding him a can and a half twice a day - at shot time. He's always been a casual grazer and I have no other cats so there is no one else to make him gobble it all down at once (the fact that my dog stole a whole bowl from him tonight is another story altogether, bad girl!).

At the vets he weighed 18lbs and the vet said she would rather him at 15lbs. My theory as to why he crept back on the juice is he chunked out and his weight caused it seeing as how there is nothing else wrong with him. But now that his numbers are high and he isn't getting the nutrients he needs he is just starving so NOT feeding him as much isn't an option. I thought if I got him to eat twice a day eventually I could creep him back to 2 cans a day and he wouldn't notice. So far that isn't working as he is just hungry ALL THE TIME. I think I will go back to feeding him before bed which will hopefully get him through the night so he isn't crowing with the birds at dawn.

When Shadow went otj, I was told it was better to feed smaller meals more often....
Less strain on the pancreas.
I try to continue that pattern now and I pretty much give her 1/4 to 1/2 a can every four hours.....
either I'm around or I put it in the autofeeder....
mostly I'm around....

At night, I set out 2 servings right when we go to bed.... she usually eats one of them pretty quick and comes back in the night and eats the rest if I'm lucky.
So she's not quite every 4 hours at night but it's there for her.

I've always struggled with how much to feed him. Seems like no matter what I do he is always starving. When he went OTJ he seemed to be starving so I started giving him the third can at bedtime. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it. ohmygod_smile
