Oh my...where did my week go?!

WCR: Kitty wake-up call 45 minutes before real alarm. I know she's hungry when she wakes me up, but I feel like she's telling me that my bladder is full and I should go to the bathroom.

All Ps are good, but my girl is still limping. I feel certain this is arthritis-type limping, but I have no confirmation. Zobaline is on the way. I know that is not for arthritis, but I thought I'd mention. I have a bottle of Cosequin. Does anyone use this with your kitty? Does anyone know if it affects BG? I know that I should take her into the vet's, but they wouldn't actually be able to tell me anything more than I already know. She won't let them touch her long enough to sedate her for x-rays and she won't walk around in front of them...she hunkers down and scurries when she can move. not to say I won't make an appointment...just saying she is an uncooperative patient!

WHR: stressed. Not feeling great...blame on stress.

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

~Deborah & Shasta

I hope the Zobaline arrives quickly and helps Shasta. It's hard when kitties are uncooperative at the vet. I hope your day gets better and you get less stressed.

Like she is the caregiver :-D

J.D. didn't like Cosequin, and I saw no results from it. Often he wouldn't eat it mixed in with his food. But, that's just J.D. ECID. Maybe, it could be pilled instead of mixed in with food. J.D. does the same thing at the vets...hunkers down and scurries if he walks at all, but my vet will move J.D.'s legs around while he's on the exam table and seems to be able to tell he has "creaky joints" as my vet puts it. I just re-started Adequan for J.D.

I'm no help on the meds but wanted to give you a big hug. ((((Deborah)))) I hope the meds help and know a lot of people use the cosequin. Have a great day Deborah!

Shadow is on Adequan shots for the arthritis and Dasuquin (similar to the cosequin) capsules too....so you can sprinkle it on food and mix it in..... I'm having to break it up in smaller increments
because if I put it all in one serving, she doesn't want it.
I suspected some kind of pain since I can pet her at times and she'll "quickly" let me know that's enough of that by attacking my hand.
The xrays confirmed it.

I remember you don't seem to have a good understanding with your vet that they should give you something to give her before you even get there.
Something to sedate her enough ....
maybe if you put a call request for your vet to call you back and discuss it....
don't let them give you a receptionist or aide.
They should be willing to help you get Shasta seen and calmer so she can't fight as hard especially since it probably makes her feel worse afterwards.

Oh and one of the things my vet did before we had the x-rays....
She pushed inward on Shadow's front legs (feeling her elbows and shoulders) and got a reaction ( ever so slight since Shadow doesn't react hardly at all while at the vets -pure fear).
We started the adequan based on that... that her elbows seemed to hurt a bit....
it did take a whole month for it to really show that it was helping.

I haven't noticed any bg increase from the dasuquin but I do notice it from pain.

Hi Carla, no Zobaline today. Watch...it will come tomorrow after I leave with my students! grr_red HAHA...you said less stress! Now that's downright funny!!!! Thank you for the well wishes. Let's just say, it didn't get worse! (well, other than the massive headache that hit me tonight!) angry(2)_cat Hope you and Furball had a good day!

Hi Dyana & Rhiannon! I cracked open a capsule of Cosequin tonight and mixed it into her dinner...she ate it just fine. Let's hope these pills start kicking in sooner rather than later. Yeah, the vet can't move Shasta's legs around...well, not unless he wants to lose a limb! I think I will have to video her the next time we go so that every gets a glimpse of my sweet little Tasmanian devil! Rhiannon, you're right, I need to contact my vet and ask about a "pre-sedation" something so that maybe she'll be a little less aggressive by the time we get to his office. The last time I took her in was the HORRIBLE experience them trying to sedate/x-ray/draw blood when she went ballistic. Since then, she has not been back. I'm thinking it's about that time specifically for an anal sac expression. nailbite_smile Dyana, I think she IS a better caregiver than me.

Thanks Melissa! I hope the meds help, too. She's very unsteady at times like walking over my lap...it's more like falling over my lap. Hope you guys had a great day!

Tonight's update: appy is ok, pee and poo are fine, preening good, not much play - but that's my fault, and purrs are fine. I've been typing up loose ends for tomorrow's field trip/performance/dinner with 40 students & 10 chaperones. Performance in Lakeland for FL Vocal Association State Choral MPA (Music Performance Assessment <- so tired of that d*mn word!), dinner & show at Medieval Times and then home by 11pm. Shasta will not get her PM shot. I, too, will not get shots tomorrow night because I am a responsible teacher and chaperone!!! :YMSIGH:

Hoomin Health update: I have not been feeling well all day. Come to think of it, I have been a bit wobbly on my legs...Shasta must be doing something to me at night!!! A headache started up as I was leaving school today at 5pm and it's gotten worse and worse and worse. I'm going to bed in 20 minutes come hell or high blood pressure. Hope that helps my tummy and headache and wobbliness and did I mention I'm a bit shaky...I HATE STRESS! Ignore me... I'm usually like this right before a big performance when I don't feel my students are quite prepared. All will be fine and we'll have a fun day tomorrow.

Good night friends. I will catch up on condos eventually. No surprises, please. Kitties...behave!

Tillie the civie is on cosequin and it seems to help her quite a lot with arthritis. She was on 2 capsules a day for quite a while (6 or 8 weeks). It took about several weeks to see a difference. Now she is on 1 capsule per day. We mix it with yogurt and she eats that pretty consistently. Zener is on zobaline for peripheral neuropathy. It takes a while for that to have an effect too. He used to get 1 pill per day but we increased that to 2 pills per day. We think it helps his stomach motility too.

Good luck with the concert! I'm sure it will go very well. Have you tried calm, relaxing breaths? It's amazing how helpful that is in dealing with stress. I should do it more.

It shouldn't affect her BG; I think ECID on whether it helps. Hope it will help Miss Shasta.

Sending you healing vines and feel better vines.
