Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

Yesterday
AMPS=187 (0.75u); +2=238; +4=247; +4.5=241; +11.25=302
PMPS=304 (0.75u); +2=239; +4=261; +6.75=306

Today
AMPS=292 (0.75u); +2=311; +3.5=310; +5=265
PMPS=184 (0.75u); +1.5=218; +3=203

I am upset!
I was so looking forward to seeing Lucy feel better after the ABs are done with yesterday, but she's feeling crappy and doesn't want to eat!

Lucy got car sick on the way back from the dental vet (follow-up exam) yesterday morning, and vomited violently twice in the car.
I can tell some of the puke went in the wrong way, and she still has it somewhere in her airway passage.
She's been trying to get it out by blowing her nose and shaking her head.
This is making her so uncomfortable and unhappy, and she's been in a bad mood and it shows in her numbers too.
I thought it would move alone overnight, but she's still blowing her nose and shaking her head this morning.
It bothers her more when she eats, so making her not want to eat.

:?: :?: :?: Does it move up or down by itself? What if it doesn't?
Could this cause a serious problem? Like infection in her airway passage or nasal cavity?
Can I do something to help? Can vet do something about this? :?: :?: :?:

I feel so bad for her. She's been through enough.
She does not need this stupid thing making her feel worse than she already is.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292 // Puke in Airway Passage

Please call your vet. This could be an emergency since anything solid in the airway can cause an obstruction.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292 // Puke in Airway Passage

Oh no! So sorry to hear this, I hope the vet can figure out exactly what to do for her .. poor baby!!

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292 // Puke in Airway Passage

I called the vet, and am bringing her in for 11:30am appointment, about 3.5 hr from now.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292 // Puke in Airway Passage

Poor Lucy. I hope they can clear that out of there. That must be uncomfortable. Sending positive thoughts and calming vines to you both.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292 // Puke in Airway Passage

More vines coming to Lucy. I hope the vet will clear that out and help her feel better and like eating when she gets home.
Hugs to you, Mariko.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311 // Puke in Airway Passage

Poor Lucy. I know what she is feeling, as I've had residual from inhaled food stuck in my airway, too, and it's very uncomfortable. I've never had it last as long as this, though, so I'm glad you're taking her to the vet. I hope they can help get rid of it.

Sending lots of prayers and healing vines her way, and hugs to you, Mariko. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311;+3.5=310 // Puke in Airway Pas

Thank you all for your vines.
We are leaving in 5 minutes.
She's breathing fine as far as I can tell, but she must be stressed about this.
She's back in stinky pinky.
I just don't see how they can get rid of this at the vet.
They will probably just check her overall condition to make sure it's not an emergency situation, and will probably just tell me to wait till it disappears on its own.
But I really really hope they can do something about this now.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311 // Puke in Airway Passage

Lots of vines for Lucy to get that gunk out of her windpipe. I hope that all will go well at the vet's.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Poor Lucy! It's really lucky that you caught this and figured out what it is. I'm glad you took her back to the vet. I pray that they can do something to help move it along and relieve the awful feeling in her airway. Prayers for the two of you.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311;+3.5=310 // Puke in Airway Pas

Prayers and vines that they can help her out today, I'm glad you could get her in. I'm so sorry Lucy and you are having to go through this. You're such a great bean! Many hugs!

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311;+5=265 // Puke in Airway

We are back.
It went as I imagined it would go.

Her temp was normal, her lung sounded normal, the vet looked at her throat but didn't see anything unusual where he could see.
She got a shot of cerenia in case her tummy is still uncomfortable.
The other thing he suggested was to give her cypro as it is a decongestant.
He thought if the airway was swollen or irritated, cypro will help.
But I'm going to hold cypro until this evening.
All decongestant meds I have taken made me thirsty and dry in the nose, and I don't want the residual puke in her airway to dry and stick harder to the wall.

In order to physically remove it, he said he'd have to sedate her and flush her airway, and he said that would be too extreme and invasive, so he wants to give her more time to get rid of it on her own.

Right now, he didn't think I'd need to keep watching her 24/7.
I have to go to work now.......

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311;+5=265 // Puke in Airway

You did the right thing, Mariko. You didn't know what the outcome would be. It's sounds like she is going to be all right now. Take a deep breath.. this too, shall pass.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311;+5=265 // Puke in Airway

I'm glad you got her into the vet so quickly and the vet didn't think this was an emergency. I hope Lucy gets rid of the residue quickly now. That must have been so scary for you. :YMHUG: I wonder if you could give her steam after the cypro so she doesn't feel so dry?

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311;+5=265 // Puke in Airway

I'm probably being a worry wart but keep an eye on her. In humans, if food gets into your respiratory system it can cause aspiration pneumonia. It may have been that she was choking a bit in the car yesterday and she irritated her throat but better safe than sorry.

Sending prayers for Lucy and for everything to clear up quickly. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I was thinking the same.

I'm glad she saw the vet and hope she gets back to normal quickly.

Sending prayers for Lucy to feel comfortable and totally clear.

Re: 4/25 Lucy AMPS=292;+2=311;+5=265 // Puke in Airway

Sending lots of healing vines out for Lucy tonight and calming vines for you, Mariko. I'm so sorry you're dealing with so much right now. Hang in there! :YMHUG:

Re: 4/25 Lucy PMPS=184 // Puke in Airway

Thank you so very much for your vines and prayers.

Lucy doesn't seem to be feeling much better, but maybe she's a bit less stressed.
Or maybe the cerenia is helping.
I think that because her BG is better.
But as far as her demeanor goes, she's still feeling crappy.
She did eat the 1st dinner by finger-feeding, but I could tell she was still uncomfortable chewing.
She was still sort of blowing her nose, but didn't shake her head.
Instead, she made some pug-like noises she makes when her sinus isn't completely through.
I gave her cypro.
I don't have a humidifier, so I may keep boiling a big pot of water until I go to bed.
My apartment is not that big.

Sienne, Sandy,
Any advice from a worry wart is very welcome, because I want to know what *might* happen, so thank you for your information.
Now I think about it, I think the vet was thinking the same possibility although he didn't say "aspiration pneumonia".
He first wanted to take an x-ray (lungs), but changed his mind and suggested we give her some time.
He said if it was what he was worried about, she should also have fever, but she didn't and her lungs sounded fine.
And if this happened just yesterday and if it was going to cause a bigger problem, he thought it was too soon for it to show on x-rays or b/w today and we might miss something bad about to happen.
He wanted me to call him tomorrow to let him know how Lucy's doing, so I guess he thinks this may develop into something else, and maybe that's aspiration pneumonia.
I will definitely keep an eye on her. So glad it's weekend, or I'll be too stressed trying to do both Lucy's care and work.

Well since I joined LL, my medical vocabulary has definitely increased!

Re: 4/25 Lucy PMPS=184 // Puke in Airway

It sounds like you have a great vet, Mariko, and you can take comfort from that. Didn't want to do useless test and x-rays. I like that.

Sending more healing vines for Lucy and more hugs to you. :YMHUG: I'll be keeping you two in my prayers!

Re: 4/25 Lucy PMPS=184 // Puke in Airway

Sending more healing vines for Lucy. I hope she is feeling better by the morning.

Re: 4/25 Lucy PMPS=184 // Puke in Airway

Sending many healing vines. I agree with Sienne......and I know you will keep a close eye on her no matter what the vet says.

I'm sure her trachea is irritated. It Is not made to have food or vomit in it and so even if there is not a concern for aspiration pneumonia, it can still really aggravate her windpipe.

I hope she is much better tomorrow.

Re: 4/25 Lucy PMPS=184 // Puke in Airway

If you put her in your bathroom and run the hot water in the shower/bath, it'll act like a humidifier would and maybe loosen things up

Hope she's feeling better tomorrow!

Sending more healing vines for your lovely little Lucy!

Re: 4/25 Lucy PMPS=184 // Puke in Airway

Thank you, Chris, for the tip, but I thought locking her in the bathroom would stress her even if I stay there with her.
Because usually being locked in the bathroom with me means BUM BATH!!!

Plus, I don't want other people in the building complaining that they don't have hot water.

Boiling water in a big stock pot is working nicely.
My windows are sweating now.

She didn't want the 2nd dinner, but I thought I'd save it for when the cypro kicks in.
Now it has kicked in and she came out to ask for food.
She only took 2 bites, and immediately felt uncomfortable and blew her nose a bit, then didn't want to eat any more again.
