I’m new here.
Maxx is a 10ish year old 20lb diabetic cat. His blood sugar is under control with 4 units twice daily prozinc. He never covers up his litter box deposits and this am I noticed a slightly pudding consistency stool with a little watery/mucous blood on top. He usually has solid stools and doesn’t strain. I’ll watch to see if it changes - but what should I be on the lookout for? Maxx is an indoor cat with a big appetite, on the same diabetic food for years with occasional dried salmon treats. No recent changes in his diet or activity. Getting less able to jump up on things though.

Welcome to FDMB. Since Maxx already has a regiment I think it would help us is you share some of it in detail. Type of insulin and dosage?
There should be more replies coming soon. Other than the usual parasite or diet change causes for diarrhea I dont know. :(
This post will bump your thread to the top. ;)

Welcome to you and Maxx!

what JT said and also is he on any other meds or supplements in addition to the insulin? Any probiotics or anything for the arthritis?

This has happened to Minnie on occasion. If it’s a little blood, I think sometimes it’s just the strain when the stool is not regular, but others will correct me if they disagree. Hold on, TBC :)

Thanks!
