My sliding scale says to do .8 but he has been showing rather higher numbers at mid-cycle and I am thinking that maybe another .2 would help with this number as well as the others. Thoughts?

For the last three days, I have been having a really tough time getting on this website. Anyone else?

The 11/12 schedule, does that mean that I would test each time at +11 and at pre-shot time?

Dental Question: At Merlin's vet visit a couple of days ago, they said that his teeth really need cleaning and he has very red gums. They didn't think he needed any teeth pulled but wouldn't know once they started the procedure. On both sides of his molars, he has quite a bit of tartar build up, so much that it is sticking out a little and that is possibly the grinding that I am hearing and the difficulty he has sometimes in getting all his food that is in his mouth. He is 16 years old and is doing a litte better since being diagnosed but still not good or regulated. He has bad neuropathy and possibly arthritis in the back and hind legs. Have you seen if it is worth it to get dental work done at this point?

Thanks.

Re: 4/23 Merlin AMPS/389

If you will be around, I think the increase sounds okay. He has had blue nadirs but no dangerous numbers.

For the 11/13 schedule, you could try it when you see a low pmps and would think about stalling anyway. So that night, shoot a +13 The next morning, yes, get a +11 number and if he is headed up and high enough to shoot, shoot early. See if the pattern continues. He is so variable right now that it might be difficult, but it might also be worth a try.

I'd post your dental question on Health. Some people really see a good improvement in numbers with a dental; for some it doesn't change things much. His being 16 may make it a more difficult proposition in terms of anesthesia. If the teeth are keeping the bg levels up, then only a dental will change that. But it's a catch 22 because you can't be sure of that without doing the dental……..

Whoopee! According to my sliding scale (see SS in notes) that I shoot a .6U tonight. Almost tempted to do a .8 but I have not had a chance to shoot this low yet so I am going with what we decided a few weeks ago and then will just see what it does. Just have to shout another "yippee!" I will test probably at +3 or +4 tonight.

We can't not celebrate! A lower number is always worth a whoo hoo. Not sure what the midcycle was about, but we'll just keep on. We know he can get low numbers - he has had a few better preshot lately so hopefully his body is adjusting to any lower numbers and things will flatten out generally.

So true. Every lower number we get is wonderful! :-D

Celebrate any victories! Maybe he just needs to get used to things. We'll get him there!
