Good Morning LL! Thinking of Michelle as she continues on without her be bud. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

We're starting to move Tess's shot time back to 7:00am and shot half an hour early this morning since her BG was so high. Who knows why the 10% yesterday, ate leftover last dinner too close to test time or maybe a bad shot, but I thought it was good. :YMSIGH: At least of +3 is down, it's a good sign for Lev.

So, easy day today. Appy is still not robust, but she is eating a little more w/ the help of sprinkles. We're adjusting her food to get more calories in to get her weight back up :YMSIGH: I probably should have not gotten Cerenia for her loss of appetite, maybe Cypro? Although now i think it started w/ the food i had forgotten that she didn't like. :YMSIGH:

WCR All 5 Ps, Clean Plate Club, not used to eating all raw yet, more calories so more filling?

Poor Tess. Good appy vines coming your way. I have no idea on the cerenia or cypro. We haven't used either one. I hope she comes down for you and her tummy feels better. Have a great night!

Re: 4/22 Tess AMPS~441 PMPS~212

Here are more appy vines for Tess.

I've been trying to get Shadow to switch to a raw food and figured out she doesn't like nature's variety....period. So i bought a turkey leg and cut some meat off of it and she gobbled that up
so I went looking for what was available in turkey.
The one I have had luck with ( so far ) is Primal. I don't know what they do different that is tastier but there is something about it that seems to be good.
Turkey has a higher fat content so that seems to be more attractive. That might help with the weight issue.
Just a thought..... :-D

Tess, I hope you'll be back in the CPC tomorrow morning. And back in the lagoon, too. Have you been practicing driving the bus? See ya tomorrow. I'm yellow tonight, too.
Rusty

Hi Ann, I hope you get the fuds straightened out. Sorry I can't help with your question about cipro and cerenia. They both begin with "c"!

Have a good evening,

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 4/22 Tess AMPS~441 PMPS~212

The Cerenia is for vomiting, and is often given in injections, especially if the cat is vomiting and can't keep anything in the tummy. Our vet had some recent research that Cerenia is also effective for pain and inflammation, like in IBD, and safe for long-term use in tablet form. We have had Zener on this for over a year, 3x/wk 1mg in tablet form. So, if any of those things are affecting appy Cerenia may be helpful.

The cyproheptadine is an anti-histamine and one of the side effects in increased appy. Karrie (of Karrie & Maverick) advised us to never give a kitty an appy stimulant if the kitty is nauseated. So, we use ondansetron regularly. We use Cypro from time to time when he won't eat, or isn't eating enough and we use the other meds routinely as maintenance of his IBD. The prescribed amount of Cypro is usually much higher than what is needed to stimulate appy. We cut the 4mg pills into 4ths (1mg), then cut those in two and take a small sliver off one of those, so it is a tiny amount. It stimulates his appy within 1-2 hours, and by using such a small amount, he isn't desperate for food or crying for food.

Paws crossed Tess gets some happy appy soon!

Re: 4/22 Tess AMPS~441 PMPS~212

Hi guys - hope you are all well.

UGH on that amps this morning, but I sure like the pmps better.

Bummer that the appy is still off...it is such a difficult thing to deal with. Wish I had a suggestion for you. I had used cerenia and mirtazapine with Mannie, The mirtz did nothing, but the cerenia did help mellow things out a bit so he could eat when he wanted to. I've been so out of the loop this past week, that I can't remember when Tess started with the appy thing. She wasn't sick was she? I had such problems with Mannie there towards the end what with eating fuds when he was sick, and of course after a while he wouldn't eat one he had eaten while he was sick, Guess he associated feeling bad with those foods... i was alwyas bringing in a new one. Maybe she just needs a new food? I dunno....

THX too for thinking of us. we are doing OK, just miss the big guy alot.

Hey Tess - how's the bus driving going?
