Yesterday on Ruby, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. :cat:

We had some shenanigans last night that led to a reduction to .1 unit dose again. Hello old friend. ;) Let’s see if Ruby will hold the reduction this time. Otherwise all is well. Hoping for poop today. :coffee:

Healing thoughts for all sick kitties and hugs to you beans. Have a happy day everyone. :bighug::bighug:
Ruby is doing great. I hope you are feeling better, Katherine. Is Frank still carrying most of the load or are you ready to get back in the saddle with Ruby :D

I’ve taken back the reins mostly. We realized after a string of blues that Frank can’t see the bubbles in the syringe and wasn’t pushing them out before shooting Ruby, so I have resumed my dosing duties. Those bubbles take up a lot of real estate when administering such small doses. He happily jumps in whenever needed to test though. He’s a good egg.

I am feeling much better. Not ready to resume most normal duties yet but it gets easier every day. Thank you for asking. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Katherine, how are you feeling? I hope you are being patient and making sure you giving yourself time to heal. Great news on Ruby’s reduction but surf safely Ruby, don’t venture into dangerous waters. Have a great restful day Katherine. Both you and Ruby stay safe. Sending Ruby reduction hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug: and healing hugs to you Katherine :bighug::bighug::bighug:

You're the sweetest, Adrienne. I should admit that I am not the most patient patient  but I'm getting there. Thank you for all of the good thoughts and hugs! Sending love your way. ❤️

Good morning, Katherine. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Ruby's numbers always impress me.
Ruby does her own thing. I am only along for the ride and keeping an eye out. She's pretty well behaved as far as FD kitties go, which is really nice. :) Thanks for the visit, Summer. :bighug:

Hey Katherine, good luck with the reduction.
Let's go with the poop today Ruby :p
Glad you're feeling better each day Katherine.
You both have a peaceful night ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:

By the way, Katherine, how do you deal with those air bubbles? I almost always have a small air bubble in my syringe. Whenever I try to flick them out... only insulin comes out and never the tiny air bubble. Anyway, I switched to B-D syringes a while back and have a lot less air now (I have no idea why, but somebody recommended them to me for less air bubbles.)

I also use BD syringes but I kinda hate them because of that lip around the top that prevents the calipers from getting underneath for those tiny doses I'm giving these days, but I'm also reluctant to change anything about our setup at this point so I deal.

I get the air bubbles out by drawing twice as much insulin as the dose and then pulling the plunger back more so that there's more air in the barrel. Then I flick to get the air above the insulin and then push the air out. When you're giving .1 or .25 units, the air bubble is quite large so I always try to get them out or else Ruby runs the risk of getting zero juice.
