When do you give him his shot?

I give Skooter his shot while he is busy eating and he never even really flinches because he is so busy eating :)

if he's not that into his food... perhaps you might want to find something that gets his attention more than his food exclusively given
at shot time.
for mine it was raw shrimp. I have to cut them up really small. ( no teeth)
it becomes a reward for cooperating..... and keeps him focused on his bowl so you can shoot. You still have to get quick about giving
it though.....

I try to mix it up but usually while he's eating. Tonight was the first time he fought me. But I won. I treated him to a little turkey bacon.

I have thought about shaving the scruff area to make it easier CUZ he's very fluffy and takes a minute to find the skin. But I keep hoping he'd gonna revert.

That's what we did when we first started....Once you get the "feel" for it, it's not as important, but it can sure help when you're first starting out!

Eventually you learn what it feels like when the needle "pops" through the skin and it won't be as important

Maybe if I shave him, he'll go in remission ! ;-) I'm ready for him to get out of the 300's. Amps was 240. 1.0u. I shot him while he was eating.

One other thing to do may be to make sure to give Fred a treat whenever you test. You want him to associate those pokes with something good -- like food or treats.

Jamye, what size syringes are you using? The first syringes my vet gave me looked like whale harpoons  ! I'm sure I hit muscle and poor Tiger would flinch and squirm... I switched to BD 6mms and things go much easier.
