Hi everyone ..

Well, not sure if today is mocha's 1 month anniversary or not?? It was one month ago date wise today, but four weeks on monday .. Either way, mocha is still doing awesome .. We can't believe how active she is .. And she continues to keep up the pace even though right now she is passed out in her sister's basket (I think just to get at her sister!)

Each morning now I sleep in about a half hour past her old shot time .. Peter makes them breakfast and then mocha comes back to wake me up .. She bat's at the covers on one side until I turn and then she jumps over my head and bat's at the covers from the other side. Once in a while I surprise her and throw the covers over her and instantly she start's purring .. :-D

I just tested her yesterday at her +2 and got a nice 69 ..

I also dropped off a binder to a vet at our clinic that included mocha's SS and some other articles .. The vet called me back a few hours later, with some worries on mocha's numbers, feeling they are still running to low .. It is what it is, we are happy with them and feel comfortable with her in this range ...

We recently started talking about camping again this summer, something we stopped doing while mocha was on insulin .. Part of me is nervous about leaving her but I know she will be ok .. Unfortunately peter's grandma passed away last weekend and this summer there will be a memorial for her that we will be going to, and that is going to be out of state and for a few days .. I told peter we better take one or two camping trips locally just to get used to it nailbite_smile

So that pretty much sums up what is going on in this household .. happy mocha, happy twix, happy beans!

Nice number!!!!!!! My vet worried to when I told her Zoe's numbers after going OTJ - but when she would see Zoe and see how well she was doing - she stopped worrying. She said, as a vet, they are not used to seeing numbers in the 60's in a cat that was doing so well. 60's and they start thinking problem.

Have fun - enjoy being able to go camping. The first time I went anywhere after Zoe was OTJ - I called the petsitter (a friend) daily until she told me she wouldn't answer my calls anymore - apparently I was driving her crazy  It is scary and nervewracking the first time you go away and then you realize Mocha is just fine.

Too cute, Mocha under the covers! We have totally adjusted our lifestyles & travel too due to insulin needs but what else can one do? This summer I am thinking of taking Lanky fishing with us. Would be like toting a baby with all the paraphernalia  DH is still thinking.

Happy 1-month anniversary too! Take care.

Congratulations on your 1 month anniversary Mocha....you are such a good kittie to be OTJ and letting mom sleep (for a while). Keep up the good work.

Pattie

How great to see that Mocha is so happy and doing so well. Do you camp in a tent or do you have a camper? If the latter, I don't see why you couldn't take Mocha camping. As long as she and Twix have a place that is dry and has enough space to move around, it should be fine. We haven't camped in years (since Stu was diagnosed in 2006): we have a small tent and our camping trips are canoe trips--not cat friendly. I miss camping, but one makes adjustments. Fortunately we have our "camp" (small cabin), so we were able to take Stu there, and now Rusty will get to go there after we open it for the season (if it ever stops snowing!).
Congratulations on Mocha's first month OTJ.
Please accept our sympathy on the passing of Peter's grandmother.

Congratulations on Mocha's 1 Month OTJ!

Hi Devon, with the Vet's comments on Mocha's readings being low, I wonder if the Vet realizes that the human meters read lower than their Alpha Trak animal meter. I'm assuming it's the one they use!

Devon,

HAPPY ONE MONTH ANNIFURSARY TO MOCHA, YOU PETER AND TWIX!!!

Happy belated Birthday Twix!!!

Ann is right on our human meters reading on the low side compared to the animal meters. That could be why she is thinking that. Next time you see her just mention that. So you see Mocha is just purrfect.

Glad you left the information off. Hopefully she will use it when helping any future FD kitty patients of hers.

What a nice report on your household happenings. Glad the kitties are happy and I hope you can get some camping in.

Nice to hear from you. So sorry about Peters grandma. That's never easy.
Keep in touch.

Thanks everyone, for the happy anniversaries .. I didn't even think about the human meter versus feline meter so I will definitely talk to her about that when I drop off this new binder.

Unfortunately mocha could never go camping with us. We have a pop up and she is to territorial, she would tear right out of the screens if she saw other animals outside ..

Thank you for the condolences on peter's grandma .. It happened very quick, just diagnosed with lung cancer three weeks ago .. cancer is the worst

Happy 1 month anniversary, Mocha! I'm so glad you are thinking about doing a camping trip. We haven't been anywhere yet since Simon was diagnosed and I'm really nervous about even going away for one evening.

So sorry to hear about Peter's grandma.

A month, already???? Wow, time flies when you're sleeping like a normal bean.

I'm so sorry to hear about Peter's grandmother. But I'm glad Mocha is where she is. You'll be able to do what you have to do without worrying.

I wonder if the vet realizes that you're not using an AlphaTrak meter. Vets do seem to worry about the numbers that human meters produce. But it seems to have gone better than expected. You did a good thing by educating her. The next kitty will benefit. Good karma/

Happy 1 month anniversay Mocha Jo!!! It's funny cause I just watched your otj video again today on you tube.

My vet was telling me that she would like to see Choco's numbers in the 90 range instead of the 70's but I also did not think about the difference in meters. I too will have to mention that to her next time I see her.

I hope that you all have a great time camping when you finally do get to go.

Have a great night guys!!!

Devon: I'm sorry to get to your condo so late especially considering how diligent you are about visiting everyone.

HAPPY ONE MONTH ANNIFURSARY MOCHA!!!!

What a great report and I'm so glad she is doing fantastic and you are getting to sleep in!!! Mike and I are very, very sorry to hear about Peter's grandma. Please give him a hug for us. I don't blame you on not taking Mocha and Twix camping but I hope the two of you will go. SHE'LL BE FINE!! You won't be gone that long. Maybe start with just a weekend and when you feel better about leaving her, you can build up to longer. You deserve it!!!

Have a very HAPPY EASTER!!!
