4/21 Max AMPS 501 +2 430

Just wanted to let you know what’s going on. My doctor has me at the emergency room and I’m still here. I will post Max’s labs whenever I can. My sister is going to go to my house and give Max his insulin when it’s time if I’m not home. She said she will test him, feed him then give him the shot but she can’t stay so I told her to give him 5 units just to be safe. She’s never given a cat a shot but she’s a nurse also. Hope that was the right thing to do. I went home and tested him again before I came to the ER around AMPS +6 and he was something like 270 then. I left food for two small meals in his feeder. @Wendy&Neko if I need to tell my sister something different please let me know. His dose is due in 2 hours. Thanks so much.

Oh Lori, I'm so sorry you are in the ER. I'll keep praying. It looks like 5 will be safe even if he breaks the bounce. Let's see what Wendy says. You have some time. Is your husband with you or can he kind of keep an eye on Max?

He’s with me, but he wouldn’t know how to take care of Max at all. He can feed him but that’s it. I hope they don’t keep me here.

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:I am worried about you, Lori.
Since I had COVID my immune system has been compromised and I am vulnerable to everything it seems like. I have marble sized painful lymph nodes, fever, terrible headache not sure why. Waiting on my CT scan and labs then see the doctor.
5 units should be OK for tonight. It's enough of a BCS he shouldn't do any shenanigans. Plus I think he'll still be bouncing tonight anyway. His current pattern is a couple cycles of bounce. You could point your sister to the last video in this thread: https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/testing-and-shooting-tips.85113/

You are in my thoughts. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thank you Wendy. That will help.

OMG (((((((@Lori & Max ))))) I'm so sorry you had to go to the ER afterall. This covid is such a dreadful thing. Please know, I'm sending my strongest healing vibes, prayers and gentle hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

If you get time to look, did your sister give 5 or 6 units tonight? :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I decided on 6 units. They were discharging me and I knew I’d be home. Still very tired and uncomfortable but I have antibiotics and ibuprofen to take. Just need rest. I don’t want Max’s BGs to get so out of control again but I’m no good to him if I can’t stay well. Hopefully these antibiotics work. I follow up next week with my doctor. I still want y’all to see Max’s labs so I will try to post those tomorrow hopefully. Thanks everyone for your concern. I know this is not supposed to be about me here, but I’m really all Max has to take care of him. Thanks again. Couldn’t do it without you.

I’ll keep praying for your recovery, Lori. You’re right about not being able to take care of Max if you are not well. You won’t be able to take care of your grandchildren either. Just rest and recover. I am so glad you got to go home.
Peace.
