Terrible start to the day but I'm sure it was affected by my daughter feeding all of the boys before Elian's amps test. :-( I wasn't home (out doing morning pet sitting jobs) but would be home in time but she didn't realize it and went ahead and fed. New house rule - only I feed the boys unless the girls are asked!!!! But.... I'm very happy to see him back at 104 after a few high days. But with yesterday being 4/20 I guess he was supposed to be high. Haha!

No condo from yesterday to attach.

I just don't get it - down to 104 and back up to 499 pmps. Will he ever stop bouncing? Is there anything I can do? He gets FF classic food - after am shot; after pm shot; and a few times during the day in between. Approx the equivalent of 2 cans each per kitty/ per day. Sometimes 3. But never within two hours of amps or pmps except this morning because of my daughter.

I don't think there is anything to do to stop a bounce....
They bounce until they don't.

You just get to wear patience pants. It's not because of the food.
Elian's pancreas just panics at those blues and greens and s-s-p-r-o-i-n-g!!!!

Thanks. I just feel bad for him and its been 3 1/2 months of bouncing. I'm a control freak - not by choice, but necessity. And I hate that I can't control this and make him better. :-(

I can relate to your feeling of helplessness, Susie. Dont feel bad as we are all doing & trying the best we can. Elain did not have the diabetes in one day, he needs the time to get better. :YMHUG:

The bouncing gets old but you have to try and ignore it. Hopefully, he'll decide to stop :-D

Wish I could find my crystal ball, the one for predicting the end to bouncing. ;-)


Our boy Zener has been bouncing since the beginning and it's been a little over two years now. :shock: Marje is right, you do sort of get used to it. He has a few periods now and then when we wonder/hope if the bouncing may stop, then he hits a spell like he is in now where he can run up and down the rainbow colors and back again in one or two cycles. We understand completely how nerve wracking and frustrating it is. Poor Zener has two control freak beans and we think this is our life lesson he is teaching us about control, or rather, our lack thereof. :lol:

Thanks Marje and Anne. Not what I was hoping to hear but glad I'm not alone in this! But really - 2 years???? So it might never end, as I was hoping it would. Just hope it doesn't create other medical issues for my baby. :-(

Better to bounce than high numbers all the time, at least he is spending some time in lower numbers. How much longer is he on the antibiotic?

How's his 5Ps? Sometimes we need to focus on how the cat is feeling instead of the numbers.. It can be hard and I forget to do that too.

Hi Wendy - he was only on the antibiotic for a week. He's been off for 6 days now, I think. Other than his highs and lows he's fine. He's laying next to me on the couch watching tv. Just gave himself a mani/pedi. Not sure what the 5 P's are but he's himself - has never been a wild one like his brothers. He's very mellow, easy going , and hangs with me whenever possible.

Yep - he does them all. Well, except play. He's never been a player. He's my more serious guy who watches his brothers from the sidelines. Well, I shouldn't say that - he and Justin were wrestling a little bit the other day. But yes he purrs and preens and poops and pees!

sounds like he is doing great! Then focus on that and dont stress on the numbers too much. Except if you need a dose change.

Where do you inject?

The scruff is supposed to be slightly slower absorption and I'm wondering if slowing the absorption would help at all with the bouncing.

I do inject in the scruff. I was going to ask today about how to inject in the stomach - I read that it's more effective but haven't found a pic if the correct spot in stomach but was warned there are areas where you shouldn't inject in stomach.

I've used areas of loose skin to the left and right of the shoulders successfully.
