Yesterday's Struggles

My thoughts and prayers go out to Marilyn (@pollydoodle ) as she deals with the Boomer-shaped hole in her heart. :bighug:

Another blue surf for Cinco today. I love blue, but enough is enough. Let's see a little lagoon action, please. He just strolled over to my desk, on a tour of the dining area and family room. He doesn't do that often, so it brings a smile to my face. Now he's standing in the middle of the family room, telling me about his walk at the top of his lungs.

Thanks to Elise, Ann, Amy and Marilyn for visiting us last night. I needed the encouragement and support. I was really stressed about Minka, and although her appy picked up right before bed, she was still looking iffy and I went to bed really worried.

Sasha had a tough night and woke me several times during the night, unable to get comfy - her breathing was pretty rough and I just called the vet to see if we should restart the Pred since I still haven't gotten her to the point of using the inhaler yet. She wants her back on the Pred and the AB. Not a good night.

To my delight, this morning, both the girls ate their breakfasts with great enthusiasm! :):):) Sasha licked her plate clean and polished off at least three more spoonfuls. I tried to slow her down, as I was afraid of a scarf and barf, but she acted like she was on Pred again - gimme, gimme! Then Minka cleaned her plate and came down a little later for seconds!

We just did her squids and she ate a couple more spoonfuls of food (please note: it was the first entree offered, and it was a kidney friendly one! :woot:). Apparently, whatever was bothering Minka yesterday has passed (HUGE anti-jinx!). Harvey jumped up on the desk chair with me earlier and got into the sack with minimal struggles. Am I awake? Better go buy a lottery ticket. :p

@Ann & Tess, I have not tried the Iams Max Cal. I've looked for it, but some places require a prescription for it, and I didn't want to order a case without knowing if the girls would eat it. I asked at my vet about it and they don't stock it but will see if they can order just a few cans for me. Thanks for the offer. If they can't get it, I'll ask at UCD tomorrow. If they can't get it, I may take you up on your offer. I'm a little hesitant about it, though, because it's chicken and Minka typically isn't a big fan of plain chicken flavors.

Totally OT: as most of you know I'm a huge NASCAR fan, and this morning we got word that a longtime NASCAR reporter/broadcaster, Steve Byrnes, passed after a battle with cancer. He was a really nice man that I met several times and I felt like I knew him after watching him on TV for so many years. Watching his class and strength as he faced his battle helped me a little with my kitties' struggles. I am so sad today for his wife and 12 year old son. It's strange to feel so heartbroken over someone you don't really know, but I guess it just hits home. If you have a spare prayer or vine, please send it to his wife and son. Thanks.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

YAY!!! for happy appies! Let me know if you want the food. Even if Minka isn't a fan of chicken, it would be good for syringe feeding. You wouldn't need to worry about aversion to her regular fuds.

Sending vines and hugs to Steve's family. It's not at all strange to loss over someone you haven't met. Think of all the kitties here we cry over.

How cute with Cinco telling you about his stroll. Yay for good appys for the girls and minimal struggle from Harvey. :bighug::bighug:

Ah, thanks Tricia.

Yippeeeeeedippeeeee on the happy appy news from your house. C'mon girls. Lather, rinse, repeat at each meal time.

Vines for Sasha's breathing.

Marilyn and Polly

Good day for your gang. Great to read about happy appies.

We are sorry to hear of Steve's passing and send our sympathyto his family.

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

And the appy happiness continues! :):) The bean is not so happy with that near-ugly PMPS, however. Work that jus, Cinco!

Thanks for stopping by, Ann, Linda, Carla, Marilyn, Elise and Ella. I did buy some lotto tickets. Might as well take advantage!:p

Looks like Cinco's off doing his own thing today too...along with China and Max!!

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for everyone!

Great to hear about the happy appies!! How about a repeat performance tomorrow, Minka and Sasha? It makes your mamabean so happy!!

It doesn't take much to please her...just eat yer fuds :)

@rhiannon and shadow, The problem is my kitty's number are three digits, and lottery tickets are two! o_O

ARGH! I don't understand what Cinco is doing. Why dip so low and then hang in high blues and yellows? I really don't want to do a dosecrease, but it's looking more and more like that....

The threat is out there. Wasn't Cinco pretty low just the other day? Come on Cinco. Back to business.

Yeah, Elise. He was at 41 (really 39 & 43) two days ago. And then nothing but yellow and blue. I just hope this flat yellow tonight doesn't mean action tomorrow, as I have to leave around +4 for Minka's chemo. DH will be here, but I can't count on him to test when I need him too - he's always on a conference call.

Sorry to hear that Minka gave you a scare the other night, but glad to hear that she is doing better! Sending great appy vines to all the kitties, vetty vines to Minka, surf safe vines to Cinco, and breathing vines to Sasha. It sounds like she's going through something similar to what Billie went through - fine off the pred for a bit, then needing to go back on it. I'm sure that will have her feeling better soon, and hopefully she'll trust the inhaler soon too! It is definitely worth the learning curve. I guess I got lucky with Billie adjusting quickly, but I see a lot of people on the FAIM group who say it was a slow process for their kitties. Good luck with the lotto tickets!!

Hiya guys! Haven't been on the boards much but dropping in to say hello. Always so much going on for you. You are an amazing bean! Think of you often - always hoping for green skies and happy furkids!! *wave*
