Yesterday's Struggles
My thoughts and prayers go out to Marilyn (@pollydoodle ) as she deals with the Boomer-shaped hole in her heart.
Another blue surf for Cinco today. I love blue, but enough is enough. Let's see a little lagoon action, please. He just strolled over to my desk, on a tour of the dining area and family room. He doesn't do that often, so it brings a smile to my face. Now he's standing in the middle of the family room, telling me about his walk at the top of his lungs.
Thanks to Elise, Ann, Amy and Marilyn for visiting us last night. I needed the encouragement and support. I was really stressed about Minka, and although her appy picked up right before bed, she was still looking iffy and I went to bed really worried.
Sasha had a tough night and woke me several times during the night, unable to get comfy - her breathing was pretty rough and I just called the vet to see if we should restart the Pred since I still haven't gotten her to the point of using the inhaler yet. She wants her back on the Pred and the AB. Not a good night.
To my delight, this morning, both the girls ate their breakfasts with great enthusiasm!

Sasha licked her plate clean and polished off at least three more spoonfuls. I tried to slow her down, as I was afraid of a scarf and barf, but she acted like she was on Pred again - gimme, gimme! Then Minka cleaned her plate and came down a little later for seconds!
We just did her squids and she ate a couple more spoonfuls of food (please note: it was the first entree offered, and it was a kidney friendly one!
). Apparently, whatever was bothering Minka yesterday has passed (HUGE anti-jinx!). Harvey jumped up on the desk chair with me earlier and got into the sack with minimal struggles. Am I awake? Better go buy a lottery ticket.
@Ann & Tess, I have not tried the Iams Max Cal. I've looked for it, but some places require a prescription for it, and I didn't want to order a case without knowing if the girls would eat it. I asked at my vet about it and they don't stock it but will see if they can order just a few cans for me. Thanks for the offer. If they can't get it, I'll ask at UCD tomorrow. If they can't get it, I may take you up on your offer. I'm a little hesitant about it, though, because it's chicken and Minka typically isn't a big fan of plain chicken flavors.
Totally OT: as most of you know I'm a huge NASCAR fan, and this morning we got word that a longtime NASCAR reporter/broadcaster, Steve Byrnes, passed after a battle with cancer. He was a really nice man that I met several times and I felt like I knew him after watching him on TV for so many years. Watching his class and strength as he faced his battle helped me a little with my kitties' struggles. I am so sad today for his wife and 12 year old son. It's strange to feel so heartbroken over someone you don't really know, but I guess it just hits home. If you have a spare prayer or vine, please send it to his wife and son. Thanks.
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans.
Special prayers for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.
