Was able to do a curve today, it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to do one. Definitely not the numbers I want to see - not sure if the numbers are still her “bouncing” from yesterday but I’m trying to keep hopeful. I really don’t want to increase her to 1.25.

I just feel like it’s something I’m doing wrong. She’s on solely low carb food, am I not feeding her enough? Like what else can I do. She was doing so good before we went away in the beginning on the month, she had several greens and hadn’t had any in almost 2 weeks. We switched the insulin pen and her numbers were looking better and then she bounced and went into the 300s. I don’t know - I just feel like I’m failing her.

You're not failing her :bighug::bighug: and you're doing everything right :)
A cat needs as much insulin as she needs. Your job is to follow the numbers and adjust accordingly.
I'd take her up to 1.25 in the morning.

How is she doing overall? A cat is more than their BGs. All 5 P's?

what are the 5 P’s?

I just feel like she was doing good, several greens and then we decide to go away and have my mom give her 0.5 instead of 0.75 and her BGs haven’t been the same since.

Peeing Pooping Preening Purring and Playing :cat:.

Bella is newly diagnosed and it's quite common to have to go up and down in dose until you find the right one which gives consistent greens. Then of course that can change too. Insulin is a hormone after all. Hormones fluctuate. A good dose last month can be a not so good one now.
The reduction while you were away was done for safety and that's the best any of us can do :bighug:.

yes! All 5 P’s. She’s happy and her usual self. I understand what you’re saying. I think I’m just trying to adjust to all of this still and way way back in my mind was hoping she go into remission fast being that we caught the diabetes early. I feel like I sound so selfish but taking care of her diabetes is just hard on me and my husband and we’re still trying to find a balance.

Yay!!!!

I’m just trying to adjust
Of course...it's a steep learning curve and adapting to a lotttttt of changes.

hoping she go into remissio
She still might ;).

feel like I sound so selfish
Nope....you sound like a loving and caring fur mommy who just wants everything for her furbaby:bighug:

we’re still trying to find a balance.
You will!! I promise. :cat:

What does it mean if her BGs are very close in numbers every time we check?

Tomorrow morning we bring her dose up to 1.25. Hate that it makes me so upset. She was doing so good on the 0.75 and then now she’s not. But I know this is what she needs to get more green numbers.

Very flat. If you can, try and get a +4 only as another data point. If you can't tonight then maybe another night :). It's good to switch up the testing times so that it can help determine onset, nadir and duration of the insulin. (Until the cat changes the pattern on you ).

Are flat numbers good or bad?

+4 will be hard because I’ll be in bed since I have to get up early for work and today she decided to wake us up at 6 am eastern time :(. I feel like she is so over me pricking her ear since I did a curve today.

You should be fine for the night. Get some rest. :bighug:
