What did you feed? KT, our first extra sweet boy, didn't recognize that beef was low carb...he'd zoom to the moon when I fed it to him. Took me many weeks to figure out what it was. At +2, the food's been somewhat digested thus bg is dropping.

Hi, he ate the same food as usually at + 11.4 , it's wet food 16% carbs called Royal Canin Diabetic for cats. He refuses another type of wet food with < 10% carbs.

There could be some bounce also. He doesn't get too many blue numbers so it's low number to his body signaling to spill out counter regulatory hormones to bring his numbers up. It would be better if you don't feed Tilica within 2 hours of the pre shot test because it spikes the BGs up. Maybe you could switch that feeding to +9 or +10 then the test number will be more reliable.

Bobbie, I'am not home before +11. I come back from work at +11, +11.5 sometimes at +12. Today at +7, my husband was home, he tested Tilica and he gave him some dry food because he only ate wet food if he is fed by me.

There's a lot of your answer....that high of carbs will cause that zoom to, many times, be well over 250-300 points. I agree with Bobbie that it also may be a bounce too.

Your post above just appeared - the dry food is also adding to that number and will continue for many hours and possibly a full day. Dry food must begin rehydrating using the water in the body before it can even begin to digest. That process will have to continue even when it works thru the colon. I'm not 'pounding on your head' on this...I'm really not - and I really DO 'get it' when it comes to having to do what's necessary at that time.

HUGS!!!! Let's DANCE! :)

Thanks for explanations. I know that dry food is wrong for him but without me he didn't eat wet food. My husband told me that he gave him 6 grams dry food at +10 because he was very hungry and was licking plastic bags.
:bighug:

You can only do what you can do, Andreea. You have a picky, bouncy cat and another human to deal with. :);)

Andrea, I'm not pounding on you for it - the world isn't perfect and you've already accomplished SO much!! As long as you understand it, things make more sense in this crazy world of feline diabetes. I grin, KT used to love to lick plastic bags. Did you know they use fish oil in the manufacture of them?
