oddly enough, no purring this morning. don't know what that means, but it's odd. he does it once in a while, so perhaps it's just the phase of the moon, but he's so consistent about his purring that it's noticeable. other than that, all seems normal. he's parked on the coffee table, sorta looking towards the timed feeder in case it's gonna go off, i suppose.

nothing spectacular or cute to report this morning, although i can say he has a new-looking spreadsheet. it's full of greens with little speckles of blue and yellow.

Nice blue start, despit no purrs. Maybe her is focusing his full mental powers on the feeder to get it to open earlier.

How did the raod trip go yesterday?

Re: 4/20 punkin amps 186

Nice blues and yay for lots of greens. Way to go Punkin! Strange on the purring. Tarragon is like that. He wasn't very purry Wednesday and seemed off all day. The absent purring is always the first sign though.

Have a great day Julie!

he just came upstairs (he's been hiding downstairs all day) and his pupils were really small, so thinking his BG must've crashed, i grabbed him and tested - and he's the same. he's been 169-186 the entire day. that's probably because this morning i was all "hey look at that cool ss!" they get you when you say things like that!

he did purr while he washed my arm as i was getting the testing equipment ready, so he's not sick or anything. probably just didn't want me to put him in the car again.

ann - yesterday i just went to a friend's house and quilted all day. he hung out in the car, fine, snoozing under the driver's seat in his usual spot. the day before i drove to portland, so he was in the car for 8ish hours by the time we got home. he's pretty flexible, but i'm guessing he didn't want a repeat car trip today!

Hi Julie,

You're lucky he's such a good traveler! Racci hates the car and cries the whole time. A long trip with Racci is torture for all involved.

Punkin looks like he's having a comfortable blue surf.

Do you put a litter box in the car too? He is having some great cycles lately. And yay on the pupils!

yes, we have a travel litter box behind the passenger seat. he likes to ride under the driver's seat. so it works.

well tonight was a bit of a disaster. i gave him the first dose of tramadol and it made him a crazy cat. not giving him anymore. i had former co-workers over all evening and one is a nurse - she thought he was probably hallucinating from it. he kept looking all around, his head was moving kinda fast & jerky looking back and forth, his pupils were huge and he just acted agitated. usually he hangs out in his box but he was awake and moving around the whole evening. trying to test him was like trying to test a wild cat. ugh. no more tramadol. i was so distracted by his unusual behavior that i felt like i was being rude, not that they minded, but i couldn't pay attention to the conversation cuz i kept watching him.

it's been 5 hours since he got it and he started purring about a half hour ago. his BG also dropped from 159 to 60 in 90 minutes.

yikes punkin we all love seeing you green but that was quite a drop  if I recall tramadol can do that to some cats, poor punkin tripping out on his drugs I'm sure your friends understood why you were distracted, they're probably just grateful you didn't kick them out

Vyktor is great in the car too, he used to come with me when I had a courier job and we'd be in the car all day. We also drove across Australia, the only problem I had with that was trying to smuggle him in and out of motels for the night!

Punkin is such a good traveller:) His colours are looking pretty too!

If tramadol is anything like bupe it can definitely send cats into a wonky state if they are not expereincing pain. The last time it was thought that Ella had pancreatits, the vet was proactive and gave her sub q's and sent me home with bupe. I administered it and she turned into psycho cat! She was yowling with agitation for hours and her pupils were very dialated. When the vet called with neg results the next day, I told her what had happened to Ella on the bupe and she said it would have that affect if she was not feeling pain.

I'm glad he's feeling better and is purring for you now
