Morning ~O) ~O) I may have done a fur or partial fur shot last night, but if so, still not a bad AMPS. Mags was quiet last night, and I found her glaring thru the patio hoping to see any wildlife. Poor Maggie got her pole mouse toy stuck underneath a chair with the string part caught! I did get a cute zoom zoom after she used the lb! Maggie had two breffifs of Wellness Turkey, a brushing, some play time and now she's lounging on a pillow I placed on the floor for me intending to start some exercises. Oh well, I think she wants me instead to have some coffee and exercise later. Nice weather forecast today, so a walk and later see if a friend can meet me for breakfast.
Healing vines for all kitties needing them.

Morning Ann - Partial last night or not, she sure is off to a good start this morning! What a nice +3! oh NO! on the pole toy  - poor Maggie! I like her choice of coffee first, exercise later. Good idea Maggie!

Enjoy your day today. Enjoy the walk and the weather, and I hope you are able to have breakfast with your friend.

Nice +3 there Maggie! If it was a partial, she is looking great today in spite of it. So nice of her to give you a zoom zoom and convince you that exercise can wait. Hope you get out and have breakfast with your friend. Have a great day Ann!

Maggie is a girl w/ her priorities set straight! Nice +3 there! She has everything under control.

Thanks Melissa, Michelle, Amy and Ann & Tess for the visits. I accomplished everything I set out to do today so far, had a short walk, and met my friend for breakfast. Even though her schedule was tight, we try and do it every week. I picked up some Relion strips, and they were only $19.98. Does that sound right? It's been a while since I've had to buy them, as the Micro is my back-up meter. I tested Mags earlier and it was high, so I think she ate some food left out that maybe spoiled. I don't know; maybe stress from trying to get a spot of blood. I'll test later again.

Ann - how do you go about measuring out your drops for Maggie's shots?

Hi Amy, it can be a challenge at times.
What I do is get a little insulin over the half unit mark and then start twisting drops out until I get to the half unit line. Then I start counting drops to see how many are in the half unit, as there are some variances in the Monoject syringes that I use. Usually there are five drops all the same size in a half unit. So I go back and do it again counting where I feel the four drops will start. Then I finally just eyeball where I started counting the four drops. I hope that helps and makes sense. Are you thinking of doing a drop.

I won't be shocked if she goes back on the juice in a few days time, so I'm just thinking ahead. I've been eyeballing the teeny doses and its not easy. I haven't tried the drop method.

Re: 4/20 Maggie AMPS 157; +3 108; +5 117 ATrak

It does get easier with practice. I remember just eyeballing it vs counting drops doesn't always work. Maggie is on four drops, so it's not too difficult but still takes time and can be frustrating getting different counts each time.

PMPS 190 ??

A little high for Maggie, so maybe a bounce! Maggie normally doesn't bounce, but things can always change. I was gone earlier, but there's nothing she could have eaten besides her norm lc Wellness. The shot was good, as she had a nice Nadir!

Hi Ann,
Sometimes it's better not to try to understand!! I have often found that the kitties' brains (or bodies) tell them that the PS tests "ought" to be in the same ballpark. So if AMPS is on the high side, PMPS will be too, even though the numbers in between don't give any indication that this should happen. And just to confound us, it doesn't happen with any consistency, but it does happen (at least with Rusty it does). I wrack my brain and wonder if I have given a fur shot, or have a bad strip, or whatever, when all it is turns out to be THE CAT!

Have a great weekend.

Thanks Ella! I know we all do it with wracking our brains trying to figure out when we did to get the wonky number. It sure sounds like one of those "it's the cat!"
