Yesterday's Condo: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=117473

Yesterday's Numbers:
AMBG - 49
PMBG - 42

Thanks for all of your visits yesterday! I'm going to have to spend some time catching up on condos today. We ended up working until after dark in the yard, and I wasn't able to visit many LL "peeps" last night. (Yes, this is what DH and I call you now. On our way to town to buy mulch yesterday, he asked me, "What's going on with your peeps?" I didn't stop talking until we pulled into the store's parking lot 15 minutes later. He was probably sorry he asked!)

It's probably good that I didn't visit many peeps last night, because I discovered a new symptom of Feline Slobber Disease - mixing up kitty cat names. Sorry about that Mariko! I hope Ginger had a good poo last night. (I hope Shasta did, too, Deborah!) ohmygod_smile

Well, Jersey may be taking a day off from plotting my demise. DH, however, has picked up the slack. Yesterday, I was so excited to report on our morning ritual:

have been letting early-bird DH get the worm (the morning pokey) most days without too much of a fuss. Of course, the beep of the meter always wakes me up, and I then scream at him "What's her number?" as I lie in bed. It's become a nice morning ritual for us.

(BTW, Marje, this may be a "normal" behavior, but whether or not it's a psychologically healthy behavior is questionable!)

This morning, I awoke to the sound of FF cans opening. Wait....that can't be right.....where's the beep? Did I miss the beep? How could I have missed the beep? Where's the beep????? I can't believe I've made it to Day 10 and failed. WHERE is the beep? I waited several minutes for the beep and then, in a panic, screamed, "What's her number?" DH yelled back that he didn't poke the cat. What????

Apparently, DH was scared of poor, innocent Jersey this morning. He said she was really hungry, and he was afraid she would hurt him during the bg check in her frenzied state. What a pansy!

I, of course, can fearlessly take down a fluffer (our nickname for Jersey) with one hand tied behind my back, so I got the worm this morning! This morning's AMBG reading was about 15 minutes after she ate.

Thanks again for all of your visits last night. Rachel, I want to especially thank you for your visit. I know you're still grieving tremendously, and I wish there were words I could say that could ease your pain. Just know that we're all here for you. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Sending out lots of thoughts and prayers to all of the kitties and beans today!

May you all have a wonderful Easter!
Shelly

Re: 4/20 Jersey OTJ Trial Day 10: AMBG-61

Nice numbers again Shelly. 40's yesterday? Holy Cow!
Take care.

Re: 4/20 Jersey OTJ Trial Day 10: AMBG-61

Thanks for checking in on us today, Dwight! Yeah, I'm really not too crazy about the 30s and low 40s. It makes me nervous, but I think that might be Jersey's goal! nailbite_smile

I saw that you poked Boots today (a nice green AMBG). You know that you're not supposed to do that every day now, right?

Have a great day!
Shelly

Re: 4/20 Jersey OTJ Trial Day 10: AMBG-61

Great job on day 10 Shelly & Jersey Girl :-D

And Woo Hoo for getting the pokie worm!!! But....do you think that Jersey purposefully chased of DH so that you could do the pokie, and possibly get some of the blood on you??...which may have serious consequences with your condition??? Oh Jersey, you are a devious sort :o

Have a Happy Easter!!!

Re: 4/20 Jersey OTJ Trial Day 10: AMBG-61

Go Jersey!!!

Oh, Shelly, you really made me   I can picture you lying in wait for the beep sound, and waiting, and waiting..... and then the shriek, "What's the number???" But, I know I would be the same way!

Happy Easter!

     I do the same thing to John when he does the =11 test, but he is usually sound asleep again before he can answer! ohmygod_smile

Nice numbers

Reminder: meter variance of 20% from true glucose level is possible! And a human glucometer isn't designed for, nor normed on cats, so it'll be a bit different from what a vet would get.

I thought perhaps he disabled the "beep". That's what Mike did     And you are right...it might be "normal" for us but, really, what DOES that say about our mental capacities? ;-) ;-) What really drives me crazy is when Mike thinks I'm asleep but I have woken up and I know he tested her but he didn't come wake me up to tell me what her number was because my number one rule in 30 years of marriage has always been "do not wake me when I'm sleeping unless it is an emergency". poor guy. I'm surprised he has lasted 30 years of marriage with me.

Re: 4/20 Jersey OTJ Trial Day 10: AMBG-61

Congratulations on day 10 Shelly!!

I always love to read your condo's to see what new devious plan Jersey is up to to plan your demise! And now she's recruited DH too?

I'm not sure I could ever get used to seeing 40's...even if China ever did go OTJ! Something about those low 40's always makes my heart race!

Keep it up Jersey! Your path to world-wide domination is in sight!

Happy Easter too!

Re: 4/20 Jersey OTJ Trial Day 10: AMBG-61

Yay!! Only 4 more to go. Way to go Shelly and Jersey.

I love double digits day! Happy Day 10!  Great condo as usual Shelly - I do appreciate the daily laugh. And good on scoring the morning poke! Early bird does get the worm.

Thanks for all of your visits today!

Kim ~ Thank you for analyzing the situation for me. I remember when you used to help me analyze the numbers/dosage. Your mentoring has really stepped up a notch, and I'm glad you've got my back in this evil situation.

Jane - I tried so hard to be patient for as long as I could. I just couldn't take it any more. The more I think about it, the funnier I find it. Poor DH. The first thing I said to him on Easter morning wasn't "good morning," "happy Easter, or "I love you." It was "What's her number?!" And it was yelled at him, no less! ohmygod_smile

Carla - Thanks for the visit. I was really happy about the 61. I don't know how long it actually takes the food to start influencing the numbers, but I'm guessing her numbers hadn't risen too much from her true AMBG level. Regardless, we'll take a 61 all day long. (It's actually a lot less stressful than seeing a 41!)

Ann - I'm so glad to know I'm not alone. How do men immediately fall back asleep like that? I can't go back to sleep once I yell for the number - and I haven't even gotten out of bed!

BJM - Thanks for the visit. How is it that after all this time - and the many responses you've given me - I don't actually know your first name? My apologies for that!

Marje - Oh my gosh, I never knew the beeps could be disabled. I will not be telling DH that. He would be all over it! Gracie.....no PM's tonight. Kitties in cahoots are not allowed. I'm actually surprised, too, that Mike has lasted 30 years of marriage with you....especially after some of the comments you've made:

I think my list got kind of confused:

1 poke human check
2 feed bobcat check
3 shoot husband check
4 adult beverage check
5 second adult beverage check

   You knew that one was coming, didn't you?! I mean, seriously, you set yourself up perfectly for that one!

Chris - My heart still quickens each time I see a number below 50. You all have taught me so well - I still want to reach for the high-carb cans. Luckily, the drooler polished off the last can yesterday. There will be no high-carb accidents in this household! BTW, I love it:

Your path to world-wide domination is in sight!

I can soooo see this being her ultimate plan!

Laura - Thanks for your well wishes. It's hard to believe we only have 4 more days to go. We couldn't have done it without all of the people here, and I will be forever grateful for all of your support.

Wendy - Thanks for my worms! I love 'em. You guys always get me with the pictures. I truly believe you all can find a picture that perfectly fits any topic. It's quite amazing to see.

Again, thanks for all of your visits. We have now officially completed Day 10 with a PMBG of 49. (I got that pokey worm, too!)

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Well, that might be because I actually go by my first 2 initials of BJ, so no apologies needed.

Jersey is rockin'!!!

p.s. Thanks for the shout out for Shasta. She had a lovely poo this afternoon. :-D

Hi Shelly. I wonder how long it will take before your heart stops dropping at a number under 50. It's amazing to me that a cat not on insulin can have numbers that low. Happy almost #11.
