DC seems to be nauseous this morning. He's licking his lips lots.
He did eat his brekkie though.
I think he's having a bounce from the lower number last night.
Normally he doesn't bounce at that number, but he hasn't been there for a while.
I think he's getting used to the higher numbers again.
It was still nice to see some green though. I'm hoping he doesn't take long to clear it.
He did have some MC @ bedtime last night because I couldn't get him to eat any LC.
He only had a total of about 15 pieces of EVO kibble yesterday, so that's a little better.
He has an appointment at the vet in 4 hours, so hopefully she can give me some ideas and different care for him.
I will update after I get home.

Re: 4/20 DC AMPS=279 +4.5=274

We are now home from the vet.
The vet was with us for over 1 1/2 hours.
She thinks DC is looking better. His heart is good and his breathing is good.
He seems hydrated. I should keep giving him fluids 75 - 100ml daily unless seems dehydrated and than I should increase to 200ml.
He is still not eating as much as he should, but he put on 1/4 pound since his last appt.
She doesn't want to use an appetite stimulant unless he won't eat the dry food either.
She'd rather see him on all wet, but if he will only eat the dry she thinks it's better than using a stimulant.
Right now he is eating about 75% wet.

She says he should stay on the Ondansetron 1- 2mg BID as well as the pepcid.
She has given me B12 Cyanocobalamin to give DC once a week SubQ.
She will re-evaluate him after a couple weeks on the B12 unless he has a set back and I need to bring him in sooner.

Re: 4/20 DC AMPS=279 +4.5=274 vet update

This is wonderful to know DC is doing so much better than the last vet's visit. Putting on weight is a sign that he must be on the right track!
How about you, Noreen? Are you having more resting time? Take care! Have a happy weekend!

Re: 4/20 DC AMPS=279 +4.5=274 vet update

Hi Noreen,
This sounds encouraging. I'll be very interested in hearing how he does on the B-12 shots.

Keep on improving, DC! We're sending more beautiful healing vines to you tonight.

Have a good weekend, guys,

Ella & Rusty

I am glad that the vet thinks he looks hydrated. The weight gain is a good sign. I hope the B12 helps him. Sending some good appy vines to DC.

Re: 4/20 DC AMPS=279 +4.5=274 vet update

This sounds like very good news. The slow and steady weight gain also sounds good. You've done great work with DC.

Re: 4/20 DC AMPS=279 +4.5=274 vet update

I bought 30 pills of Ondansetron and a 10ml vial of cyanocolabamin from Costco, last Sunday. My receipt doesn't say which price goes with what. One is $9.75 which I think is the B12, and the other is $15.09 which I think is the Ondansetron. If so, that makes the pills about $0.50 each. That's a much better deal than the 10 pills I bought for $33.00 at my local pharmacy.

Wow on an hour and a half with the vet - she must like you and DC :-D

Great to hear that he's still improving.

They are a lot more expensive in Canada.

On the phone Costco pharmacy quoted me around $69 for 10 4mg tablets of Ondansetron.

We have some green. It's so nice to see. I hope he surfs nicely and doesn't drop to much. I don't want another bounce like this morning.
DC ate about 80% LC today with only a bit of EVO kibble.
Hopefully he ate enough, I think so.
I gave him his 1st dose of B12 @ AM +11. He gets it once a week for 6 weeks.
The dose may need to be adjusted in a few weeks, but we started at 0.1ml today.
He seems more alert tonight and he didn't sleep as much.
I had trouble with the Ondansetron, he spit it up twice, so I hope he got it all in him.
I guess I'll know by how he's feeling in the morning.
I wish I could get him to like pill pockets, but he just sniffs them and tries to bury them.
When he saw the syringe for the AllerG3 he hid. I don't think he likes the syringe after being syringe fed.
The vet said not to stress him by forcing him to take it daily, but to work up to daily.

I think you will have to go up on the B12 dose. I am not sure what the concentration of your B12 is. I always gave .25 ml. Any excess B12 is excreted by the body. This is something to discuss next time you see the vet, if the current dose is not helping.

You could try wrapping the pill in a thin layer of Pill Pocket, and then covering the PP with a coating of crushed Evo kibble.

Dyana, a few years ago I ordered some meds for Bear from Thriving Pets, and the guy there at the time (Ian) told me it was no longer worth his time and trouble to mail to Canada and he was not going to do it any more. I have no idea if it is still the same.
eta: checked website and they only ship to the USA.

The concentration is 1000mcg/ml. The vet did say I could increase to .25ml if needed. She said to try .1ml to make sure there is no reaction first.

I tried coating the pill pocket last night and he just spit out the whole thing after sucking off the crushed EVO.
