I think this is the latest I've ever posted a condo. Happy appy, snuggly, spunky, feisty, and anti-jinxes.

Petey update: preliminary biopsy results are in and he definitely has either large cell lymphoma or mast cell cancer. Both are fairly treatable, but they do know more about lymphoma so "hopefully" that's what it is. The final results will be back in a day or so, but in the meantime the IM vet is talking to oncology to find out if there is a chemo agent that works on both types so they can start treatment and get him feeling better ASAP, and once we have the final results we'll develop the appropriate plan.

We did have to take him back last night, though. He really was not ready to be released...he was drooling like a faucet and clearly very miserable. He had two tube-feedings while at the vet and kept those down; however, when DH made our first attempt, we barely started the process and he (Petey, not DH) projectile vomited, which scared the you-know-what out of me. I know we were going slowly enough, but he just felt that nauseated. So we took him back and had him readmitted. I'm glad we did, because he needed "professional level" support, plus he got the attention he needed for his diagnosis sooner rather than later. I miss him terribly, but it was too traumatic for all of us last night...he needs to be ready and in a condition where we can take care of him properly. We're going to visit him shortly. The vet did say he was starting to look much better today, so I'm sure a large part of his condition yesterday was post-surgery stuff.

While having a cancer diagnosis really sucks, I do have a bit of relief that we now have the start of a path. These last few days, my mind has been doing terrible things and I spent a large part of the last 24 hours imagining the very worst. Now, we potentially have a chance at a decent amount of quality time with him still.

Thank you for your support, everyone....

Prayers to all....
Amy

Hi Amy,

I am so sorry for the diagnoses on Petey. My drooler was diagnosed 3 times with different glandular cancers and we beat it every time with surgery and chemo or combination there of. In the end, it was old age and QOL issues that finally got her. She was only 13 but she was not well taken care of when she finally found us to take care of her.
All my prayers for your family and Petey. Speedy recovery vines heading his way.

I'm glad you got a diagnosis on Petey and that it's treatable! Better the devil you know...you and Petey can be prepared to fight it. Keeping all of you in my prayers, and sending out tons of healing vines!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ugh, I'm nauseous for your too Amy. :bighug::bighug::bighug: You're a great bean and taking him back last night was likely the best choice ever. Glad to hear he's doing better today and sending continues vines and prayers.

Amy, it sure helps to have a diagnosis and a treatment plan. I am happy that the vet is starting Petey's treatment now. So glad that Trixie is better too. Hugs and prayers continue from me.
