drat!
i'm testing again in a little bit.....

not sure if I can give a shot by myself.... she's not starving like when she was dx'd.....

thought I'd watch today and see how it goes.....
last night she was a nice low green....

if I'm going to start the juice, I guess I'd start at the drop amount....

and the poo is liquid... runny.... still blood..... ( hemmorhoids)
red blood so it's external.....

Shadow's numbers could be higher because of the hemmorhoids. Hopefully the meds will clear that up and her numbers will come back down and you won't need insulin. :bighug::bighug:

Sending lots of vines for Shadow today. I hope that she won't have to go back on the juice. Good idea to observe today and see what effect the meds will have. Can cats use Preparation H?

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

i wish....
the vet said I could put vaseline on her anus. I'm not sure that would do a thing for her...
moisture barrier... maybe.

she doesn't want it touched....

the clay should be doing something right away and it is not.

Sending lots of healing vines for Shadow today. Hopefully he will come back down and won't have to go back on the juice.

just talked with vet....
clay should be helping already and isn't. Shadow has been in litter box 3 x this morning. Poor dear.

We are going to discontinue the budesonide and start prednisolone tonight....
2 x a day.... : /

so ....
looks like we will be starting some juice.

I think I should start with the smallest dose to give support and work up as needed.

right now we just want to stop the liquidpoo.
i'm ready to give her crackers if she'd eat them.

The bg could be stress and pain....
she hates having poo on her... she had little traces on her fur hind quarters but she won't let me touch it.
Her butt was trimmed a few weeks ago.... guess I'll be following her around later with scissors.

but I know her bg will go up after we start the prednisolone.

I'm so sorry you and Shadow are going through this. Sounds like you are trying everything to get the liquid poo under control. Have you given her Forti Flora, too? Just a thought.

I hope the higher BGs are due to discomfort and lots of meds and will come down again once her issues are resolved. Sending lots of healing and poo vines for her and :bighug: for you.

at least she is eating kangaroo...
the only novel protein we had left..... she's sampled everything else out there.....
i just know she'll get tired of the kangaroo.
and I better go order more....

vet just called back...
not trying prednisolone just yet....
we are going to try cyclosporin first.....

she has no history of toxoplasmosis...
and her liver is one of the few things not limping along right now....
of course , we'll have to keep an eye on those liver values....

So sorry to hear that Shadow isn't feeling well. I hope the meds help. Sending lots of vines her way and your way.

Have you ever tried Mauri? It's a canned food that our pet store just started carrying. They have kangaroo, brushtail (I had never seen that one before) and a couple others. I think everything is sourced from New Zealand. I'm on the novel protein hunt too so we tried those. Billie wasn't a huge fan but my civvie likes them.

Sending tons more healing vines for Shadow- glad to hear she is eating the kangaroo at least! I have fingers and paws crossed the new med will do something! :bighug:

Hi Rhiannon

I am sorry I haven't been following he threads in LL closely but is the issue IBD? My remi has IBD and pancreatitis and has recently had a flair up. He has been very gassy, and has had diarrhea on and off for the last couple of weeks.

Yesterday we started probiotics and whilst still very early days his tummy already appears less bloated, he isn't passing wind in the same way and today passed a solid motion. Is this something you might consider trying? I have been chatting on the pancreatitis forum about this and they is some research to back up its benefits. I can link the articles if you like.

I would definitely keep an eye on her liver if you are going to give cyclosporine. I'm sorry my memory does not serve me well but vet has tried metronidazole? It worked like a charm for one of my other cats that had liquipoo but he had a bit of an intestinal infection.

Many vines for your girl and belated happy birthday wishes for her.

Yes....
she is on metrodiazole....

new medication list.... ( and old) to treat ibd
prednisolone 1 x a day
Cerenia 5mg every other day ( pills, not shots)
Clay 1/8 tsp 2x a day
ondansetron up to 2x a day
cyproheptadine up to 2x a day but vet prefers mirazapine - she's going to give me the ear cream since it's not as harsh
metronidazole 75 mg 2x a day
Gabapentin 1 ml/day - not here yet so still giving Bupenorphine
and still the adequan shot every 3 weeks3

and added today....
proviable which I was scared of.... but decided to give it a try anyway since it's supposed to stop the diarrhea immediately. It just that it has
soybean oil, kaolin, fructooligosaccharide, gum arabic, pectin, dextrose , sucrose, silicon diozide, maltodextrin and then seven bacteriums....
it only gets used for 3 days at most.... scary ingredients.... all the sugars and soy....
it may be working because since I gave her that and a prednisolone pill.... she hasn't squirted thus far....
paws crossed.

and yes, the dx is ibd and possibly lymphoma....

I recently learned of this site www.catnutrition.org - a woman who knows Dr. Lisa of the catinfo.org site, and has some interesting info about IBD. Look for the tab on diseases and the drop down menu has an option of choosing IBD. Might be something on there to help you.

Sending healing vines to Shadow. Punkin had some of the same issues and it isn't a good time. Hopefully the proviable is helping. I found that a human probiotic seemed to help more than fortiflora when things got bad, oddly enough. I happened to have Accuflora and gave him about 1/8 of the tablet. @Sienne and Gabby has had good experience with ReNew Probiotic from Whole Foods, I believe. I've tagged her in case I don't have the name quite right.

Thanks Julie.
You've given me that link before.... I've read it....
I bought raw from Darwin's. I was feeding it to her every morning, she would eat it with shrimp mixed in.

the vet wants me to feed only the kangaroo or science diet a/d or z/d

Shadow will eat the kangaroo as long as I sprinkle some freeze dried duck on it.
She hadn't had any duck for the past week.... and she hasn't had any rabbit.

her problem has to either be seafood? chicken? turkey? or the additives?
I think the raw made things worse.
She has always had a wide variety and never had any issues until now.

I do have some rabbit here too since it's not been fed all week. I was going to give her that if she starts refusing the kangaroo.

I have just started remi on the mercola probiotics following a bout of diarrhoea, swollen and painful tummy, gas, etc and blood test that highlights issues with tummy and digestion.

http://probiotics.mercola.com/probiotics-for-pets.html

I started it two days ago and so far so good. He is sitting more easily, his tummy is much flatter, not burping or passing wind, solid poo, fur in better condition. He is slightly spaced out but hoping that will pass.

Here are those links I mentioned
https://www.purinaveterinarydiets.com/media/1182/probiotic_roundtable.pdf
http://veterinarycalendar.dvm360.co...s-veterinary-medicine-sponsored-nestle-purina

From the discussion on the pancreatitis forum it would appear that if one brand doesn't work it is worth trying different ones as the mix of probiotics will be different.
