Good Evening!

A late condo here. We increased to .5 tonight, and we seem to be heading in the right direction so far. Mikey finished his pain meds this morning. He's eating great, and the four P's and one K are in place. (Mikey would rather knead than play.) I'm curious to see how he'll do without the bupe. I'm on the edge of my seat watching him for any sign of pain. He doesn't seem completely normal, but I think he may still be rather loopy from this morning's dose. Does anyone know how long bupe takes to get out of the system? Mikey's pretty sensitive, so I think an little bit could affect him. Wait, I'm telling you all that Mikey's sensitive???? I suspect you may have already noticed that!:p

Praying for both of Mikey's partners in extractions!

I can't be of much help about the bupe, but I seem to remember someone saying that the larger the dose, the longer it takes to wear off. In other words, the amount governs the duration, not the strength. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Have a good night,

Ella & Rusty

I don't know the maximum duration. I do know that cats can be dosed every 8 hrs if needed, although every 12 hrs seems to be the most common prescription on here.

Fingers crossed that Mikey works the 0.5u and brings his #s down.

Good luck with the increase. Bupe is dosed by weight, and as Ella says, the higher the dose, the longer it lasts. And even for a cat of a given weight, there's quite a range of doses.
