4/2 Marco - AMPS=174 +6=<40; He keeps dropping <40

Hi-

Marco (for the 3rd day in a row) drops below 40 at some point in the day. Last night, a good chunk of the night he was below 40. Been reducing insulin rapidly.

Anyone ever see this quick of a drop?

Concerned. Don't want to shock his system by not giving insulin. At the same time, he keeps dropping really low. Why give insulin only to give high card food to try and raise his BG. Had to feed him 2 hours before taking PMPS and giving insulin because his BG was 42 and dropping. No idea what PMPS will be.

Even if he's at 70-100 for PMPS, he's been dropping so much, my best guess of how much insulin would be max 1/2 dose which would be 0.5 units.

There is a whole thread from last night: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...-2-80-3-41-4-40-2nd-below-40-in-1-day.227808/

Reasonable that part of this is due to adjusting time on insulin shots to fast. Seems more to the picture and that his body is also producing more insulin.

Anyone ever see anything like this? Thoughts?

Thanks-

Wendy and Marco

When was he below 40 today? I don't see it on the spreadsheet. Do you by any chance have a separate blood glucose meter than you can test and compare against the Libre?

He was below 40 at +8. I have it listed as ** and referencing the comments. He also went low again after eating at 5 pm; having technical issues posting it.

Only have the libre.

I am glad you skipped, that will help drain the larger depot. You can try the lower 0.5 unit dose. If you need to, it'll be easier to go up that keep fighting lower numbers.

And yes, sometimes a cat's pancreas will heal quickly or there can be other reasons the dose needs drop rapidly.

What's the backup plan if the Libre stops working? People here who've tried the Libre have had a regular meter to compare and confirm to lower readings.
