Hello Friends,
sorry i've been such a slacker lately but we've been doing some upgrades....
and sorry, this is long....
last condo with pics ( wow, all the way back to November)

In December, my dh decided it was time for us to stop being so good and we bought ski passes
and went skiing every open day and made a few trips to durango.... and Sipapu , NM
so Jan and Feb were constant skiing..... WOOT!!!

for March....
we bought new windows ( by Anderson - $$$)
we refinished our red oak hardwood floor in our bedroom /bath area ourselves....
we went distressed.... so we sanded it, beat it up and stained it....

and painted our bedroom /partial bath area....
plus i've been trying to re-organize the entire house ( ever so slowly)
got a new bedroom rug
and waiting for all my new blinds.... ( sheets currently used in our bedroom as curtains  )

now we are getting a new furnace/air conditioner... water heater.... and relocating the w/d and water heater...
gaining 2 ft x3 ft x 6 ft of shelving storage... ( that's huge!!!!! )
you can tell i'm happy about that....

the second part there - furnace, etc... is being done by someone else.... phew....

allergies have been fierce this year... we've been in the 10's on the pollen scale... and so far it's just juniper, elm
and poplar ( cottonwoods)
dh had to go to urgent care on saturday after putting my eliptical back in our bedroom....
it has wheels on one side and he maneuvered it to our room only to have one of the foot paddles whack him on the head as he set it down - he didn't bleed on any thing amazingly and had to have 7 stitches in his head.
about the equivalent weight of having a brick dropped on your head....

then this past thursday, i had a really bad allergy day....lots of coughing.... and i had a weird pain
in my sternum... as if someone had poked me really hard with a strong finger....
i now have asthma ( started 3 years ago in reaction to juniper) and apparently began hyperventilating
by late afternoon....
i got whacked in head by cast iron skillet ( is that two bricks? )
so i have a dent in my head...
i'm laying on the floor.... hyperventilation....
try to get up and my legs and arms are all tingly.... especially my thighs.....
and my doctor never gave me a rescue inhaler.... i just had a maintainance type....

so ...
with the shallow breathing, the chest pain, the tingles....
we decide to be safe than sorry and go to the ER.
they gave me a nebulizer treatment, ekg, and blood test....
prednisone, potassium ( apparently mine was very low) and a rescue inhaler....

the symptoms were too close to heart attack.... and i had to admit that i don't know what one would
feel like in my own frame of reference....
i did have hypertension too but that's the first time ever.... so it could have been all the stress....
we'll be watching that....
it has been a very hard month of work, got company coming tomorrow
plus just regular work, day to day normal things to take care of....
glad we are on the downhill side now....
phew.....

Anyway....
kitties are all young and crazy....
i am going to have to take Phantom in and get his hormones tested....
just for my own piece of mine....
he's having a love affair with a fuzzy blanket daily....
he drags it all over the house...at least twice a day.... and he bites it and kneads it ( no direct humping)
but he does get an erection while he does it....
he is my first male cat but it just seems excessive to me ...
at least he doesn't do it to any of the girls....
but he does go on daily rampages of attack/domination especially to Maia.

Keora is currently wearing a homemade sweater....
I cut a sleeve off an old sweatshirt and used the wrist as a mock turtleneck ... cut out two leg holes...
and it fits halfway down her back...
i tried to buy her a hoodie online but the xs was too big....
anyone want a pink hoodie? it would fit a chihuahua

i needed something to interfere with her scratching the back of her head/neck....
she gets these sores from roughhousing with Phantom ( who now has his claws trimmed)
but she could reach them and scratched them so much that they became bloody sores....
i rub neosporin on it daily which she loves because it itches so so so much)
She got a new one now on top of her head and hopefully she can't really scratch that area.
She is still the lovey here.... she sits by me more than any of the others....
still tries to sleep against my neck if i will let her (she's so hot)
and Phantom and she are two peas in a pod.
She's a tough tiny girl and she gives it back to him often, but she also tries to stay out of the fray
as much as she can. (maybe that's part of why she sits by me .... for protection)
she absolutely loves cheese and if I am grating any, she shows up and mews the tiniest little
sound , i can barely hear her.

Amale and Maia ( my ds's two) hang out with us most of the time but he's starting to get them
to hang out in his room more. Maia is the gentlest sweetest girl.
She is friendly to strangers and wants love from any one....
She and Phantom are the only two out when visitors come.... the other two hide.
Phantom is in your face... like " who are you and what are you going to do to entertain me? "
he climbed all over the window salesman.... even smelling his hair....
he's such a bold cat.
Phantom is also always right in the middle of everything we are doing....
hard to keep him out while we painted, stained the floor...
they all had to supervise our work.

so here are the most recent pics.....
sorry for the blurry ones.....

every time we had a ladder, someone was on it.... so we had to keep it away from windowsills else
they would jump on them..... especially while painting.

and lastly,
Keora in her homemade sweater.... but she's sitting on a red dishtowel too....

black and white cats look so pretty on red....

well...
that took 2 hours to post....
i hate windows 10.... and the cloud with my pictures.... i can't figure it out....
i had to save each picture on another place on my computer, then go load them on photobucket....
it wouldn't let me have them off the cloud to upload....

i will have to not postpone so very long next time.....

these guys are coming along.....
but even collectively, they don't have as much personality as Shadow ( whom I miss so very very much)
of course,
Shadow wasn't crazy ( at least not the last 10 years)

Hugs to all of you....and I'm watching you all....
I don't always post... but I try to keep up with the headlines....
things should really slow down after the next week....

unless Durango gets a bunch of snow.... ;)

Such great pictures. I'm glad the kitties are all doing well. It sounds like you've been super busy. Sorry about your DH and your allergies/asthma. I hope things are better now. Sending prayers.

just returned from Albuquerque....

after reading my other post about some pet foods....
i went and got some of the ones i had liked having before and wanting Shadow to eat them....

I want to eliminate purina from our repetoire....
my two liked nature's variety chicken ....
hope they like it again and it's not just the first open can.....

What beautiful babies!!! Love the drooler in the background, too...so fluffy!!

I hope your allergies and asthma settle soon....

Loved the pictures, and had to check out the last ones from November again too :) You have such beautiful cats!

Thanks for the update, and I hope your allergies soon lessen, and no more hospital visits for the rest of the year ;)

What a wonderful family you have!! And they're all so photogenic too!!

Sorry to hear about the worsening asthma....we've got pollen at the max around here too so everybody is sniffling, sneezing, rubbing eyes and coughing.

I think it's funny that you spend all that money on new floors just to make them look old.... I understand the "distressed" look, but worm holes?....LOL

Thanks for visiting China's condo...We always enjoy hearing from you!!

I feel exhausted just reading about all you've been up to. Sorry to hear both you and DH required hospital visits, hope your asthma is more under control now.

Gorgeous pics of all kitties, they are a beautiful brood.

LOVE the pics - gorgeous creatures, all (even the drooler). I wish I'd known about Keora's problem. I'd have tucked a few socks into the box with the cat food - When Sasha lost her hair from her radiation and kept scratching at her neck, I bought some extra-large men's socks, cut off the foot and cut a hole in the top part for her front leg. They fit like a turtleneck, so it covered her neck and shoulders beautifully. I bought a big package and still have at least a dozen, with no earthly use for them (too big for Mark to wear). Would you like me to send you some? Sadly, they aren't red, but they might make a nice change from the sweatshirt. Let me know.

OMG, you and DH have had a time! How scary for both of you! I'm glad you're both okay, and I hope you can keep the asthma under control now.

Wonderful to get an update - please don't wait so long next time! :bighug:

I think it's funny that you spend all that money on new floors just to make them look old.... I understand the "distressed" look, but worm holes?....LOL
@Chris & China
i had great fun making the "worm holes"

the floors aren't new....
they are 65 years old like the house..... but the wood is thick so they could be refinished more than once.....
we tried the perfect floor at our previous house.... paid to have them re-done but old wood dries out over time so there
are always gaps between the slats..... they fill those but it falls out quickly.
So it doesn't look good after a year or two.....

i am finding that we worry less about marks and dings .... they just add to the charm, especially if you have such an old house.
we have 12 ft vaulted ceilings with mahagony beams ... ( the reason we bought this house) with a huge stone fireplace
so we already look like a rustic colorado cabin ( on the inside)

we are replacing our furniture with the industrial rustic look....

here's our next project ....
i'm not using barnwood or paint....
but i am using exotic woods.... with lots of worm holes.... and spalted wood....
i'll post a pic when we finish it.... i have all the wood.... just no time....

@Tricia & Cinco & Harvey
my dh has plenty of socks.... I didn't think of socks....
so thanks....

I also have the other sleeve still....
since the sleeves are a poly/cotton blend.... the socks might be cooler on her so great idea....
I think he even has a pair of tie dyed socks that the kids made him 15 years ago....
she could be colorful.

Thanks for the visits....
