Good morning all from sunny Sydney.

Well after a few very ordinary days of numbers Sheba decided to head for the lagoon and dive last night. I was ready for her but she beat me to it again.:arghh:
PMPS was 336 and +3 was 309.
I had fed her her second meal so I thought she would be OK for going down slowly.
But +4 196.......a drop of 113 in an hour! Yikes
So I gave her some HC and +5 was 182.
Usually she slows down after +5 so I gave her a teasp MC and went to bed and set the alarm for +7.
+7 74.....another big drop:banghead:
So I fed her 1 teas MC food, went back to sleep for an hour
+8 74 again. I didn't want her going any lower as the idea is to keep her in low numbers at the moment, not get a reduction, so I gave her another teaspoon of MC
+9 88. I gave her another teaspoon MC as I wanted to make sure she didn't drop again and went back to bed and slept til morning.
At the moment Sheba is sleeping in the sun with a full tummy:cat: and I am working out when I can go back to bed!!!!
I was surprised when she hadn't bounced this morning........perhaps that is her surprise for me this afternoon (sigh)

@julie & punkin (ga) you asked when I slept with such a full SS. Fortunately I am usually able to fall asleep straight away when I go back to bed after a test so the turn around is only a couple of minutes. But even so sometimes I am desperately tired. I try and have a sleep each day during the day if I can. Some days I can't but I grab every opportunity.
If Sheba was more reliable with her numbers I would get more sleep, but she is such a bouncer and diver I can't rely on her. I find I can relax and sleep better if I get up later and check her. Better than lying in bed worrying she might be dropping too low.
Oh the things we do for our kitties!!!!!:joyful:

Ugh on those drops! Miss Sheba really does have a dramatic flair. Maybe her +3 should always have a little MC? I don't know, just a suggestion. It was nice to see her in the lagoon, even if it did cost you some sleep. I've noticed with Neko that if I give her HC, I can get two hour naps in the middle of the night. And it doesn't usually have a long lasting effect. The longer naps are much more refreshing. Sheba will eventually come to accept those greens and become more predictable - I hope.

BTW, when you put the * in the columns you fed in the World version of the SS, the US side can't translate. So you have to pop over to the US tab and manually enter the data.

@Wendy&Neko , good suggestion re the higher carb food .......I think I will swap the 4% food I put in with the +2 food with some 15 % and see how that goes. It is not a lot of food, only 20 grams, but it might make a difference. I might have to tweak it.
She is not going to bounce by the look of things this morning. She had a food spike but dropped almost back to the preshot in one hour.(sigh). I am surprised.
I have fixed up the * in the columns thanks. Should I put a * whenever she eats or just when I give extra food to stop her dropping etc.
I have to go to a specialist appt on Tuesday (it is Sunday here at the moment) and will be gone from +3 for a few hours (basically over her 'big drop' time). Last time the specialist was running very late and I was there for much longer than anticipated so it could be much longer I am away. The last time I reduced her insulin it took ages to get back on track...in fact I am still trying to. Could I just reduce .25 unit the night before and the morning of, OR, could I just carb her up on the day. DH will be here....he doesn't test but can feed her.

Also I have been meaning to mention to you that Sheba's mobility has improved considerably since the injections of cartrophen. :) She is jumping up a lot more onto things and following me up and down the stairs a lot more. The difference is quite noticeable. So the caltrophen has worked for her..thanks for mentioning it.

I've seen people use the * both for regular meals or just for extra ones. It might help to put it for all of them while you are still tweaking.

For your time/day away, you could do either the reduce the night before and day of, and/or get DH to feed every hour, depending on what she's doing before you go. If you reduce, then you'll be playing with the depot, but it's probably safer. However, for last weekend I reduced Neko 4 cycles before my day away and Neko ended up surfing the 80's all day the second day of the reduction.

I'm glad the cartrophen is helping. My previous arthritic civie got quiet a bit of relief from it.
