4/19 Jude AMBG 120; PMBG 88

Jude is back down in the greens tonight, so no shot. This is five full days without insulin. It looks like Jude naturally trends a little higher (in the blues) in the a.m. and goes back down into the greens at night. Our microwave is broke, and I couldn't heat up his rice sock, so I decided to just do the a.m. and p.m. test today. I've got a borrowed microwave now, so we're back in business. I'll do some mid-cycle tests tomorrow and through the weekend. Fingers crossed we stay the current course.

Does Jude get a PM +8 or +9 snack? That might bring down the AM numbers. It would also be good to test 3ish hours after his AM meal to see if he's bring any blues down.

I used a pill bottle/old water tight film canister fill with warm water. That also worked.

Hi Wendy, Jude is allowed to graze, and he does eat at night. I normally put a can of food out before I go to bed, and by the time I pick it up in the a.m. (two hours before testing) it's typically (but not always) gone. Jude's sister (who is very picky, and doesn't eat much) also eats out of that bowl, so it could be her. I will give him a LC treat tonight before I go to bed just to ensure he is getting something in his tummy.

And I will test him at three hours after his morning meal tomorrow.

We tried the pill bottle this morning; it just didn't get the ear warm enough :(

Thanks for your feedback!

You know, I'm reading your post again, and pm +8 or 9 would be 3 a.m.-ish. Perhaps I should get an automatic feeder? I'm up by 5 to take the food bowl away, but getting up at 3 am as well is going to wear me out. I usually put food out before I go to bed at +5-ish. I'm gonna need to think about how to manage this.

Yes, most people do that with an autofeeder. And if it's one of the rotating ones, you can set it to rotate to an empty slot at +10. Then you don't have to get up at 5 either. :)
