Dimi is still having super highs and super lows. Vet wants to switch to levemir to see it that might even him out. Starting to realize that Libre "LO" really isn't accurate, b/c when I spot check with the ReliOn, his BG numbers are significantly higher. Given the Libre's lack of accuracy, how can I determine when he has earned a legitimate reduction?
 
What do you give for potassium, and when does he get that rechecked?

I personally have mixed reviews on the Libre. For some it works great, but I've also seen a few others where it's what you're experiencing. We know they read artificially low at lower numbers, but I've seen some that just read much lower across the range.

What I would say is if you're around, double check any number under 90. And definitely anything under 50 of course because that's approaching hypo territory.

I add 1/2 - 1 tsp Potassium gluconate powder to his food each day. Recheck is scheduled for mid-May. Thanks, I'll definitely start verifying Libre numbers. Not sure how to reflect both in the spreadsheet.
 
I’d put a *by the bg, list both numbers and note it in the comments on your ss you tested with Relion to confirm.
 
I'm not sure of the point of the Libre being on if you cannot trust the values. There is a huge difference between LO (typically less than 20 on a human meter) and 149 on the Relion.

Dimi has been on Lantus barely 6 weeks, way to early to say it's not working. Especially with a suspicious meter and numbers we cannot trust. It's really hard to make dosing decisions based on it. I've seen other people have Libre reading that seem much closer to human meters. Good to hear you are going to spot check the Libre numbers, that will be very helpful in deciding what is really happening.

He's been on lantus for 10 weeks, but totally agree that it's not enough to go on, particularly in light of the wacky libre readings. My vet suggested that the huge difference in today's reading (LO vs 149) was because the sensor was on its way out. She said they often read HI/LO when they are about to fail.
 
We typically say to try one of the depot style insulins for 6 months before deciding it's not working. It takes a while for their body to get used to it.
