Good morning! After yesterdays poop issue, there was poop this am and it was not soft, but still black. I dont remember how long now since her poop has been black, but I have been looking online for what causes black poop, and everything I read says its from blood/bleeding somewhere. I dont have a day off until Thursday, so I will take her in to vet then. I hope its something else, not serious, as she seems fine except for the soft mushy poop yesterday. Im off to work now, and will update tonight. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Laura, have you changed her food at all or given more of a particular flavor. Max seems to have his poo change color based on what he eats and currently his has been pretty dark too. I think it might be due to the topper I was putting on his food but am not sure. I do notice it changes with the flavors of ff he gets as well. The consistency is likely due to the miralax. The amount they need changes from time to time. I hope nothing is going on.

Elise, she has been eating ff since dx. Usually/mostly t&g. Occasionally she gets the tuna and shrimp ff, or chicken feast ff. I have been giving her cosequin for cats since 1/29 every pm, along with the miralax 2xday(since 2/28). Other than that, she eats fd chicken purebites for treats. Thats it as far as what she eats. I did start giving her friskies t&g sd last night and today because its lower phos, in case that has anything to do with it. I stopped the Miralax yesterday also. I suppose I will find out after the vet appt. She is doing fine, and her numbers have been really good. She eats well, grooms, pees, poops every other day, and appears normal. Paws crossed here..

Very nice surf today, Chi Chi!

The color could well be the change in food. Was this the first time she had Friskies sd? They all react differently to food. I hope the vet will give you some answers.

Have a good evening

I would not worry that the miralax is the cause and if her poop gets harder I would restart it at least once a day. I'm giving Max 1/8t every morning. He eats the turkey & gibkests, chickrn, and liver & chicken and lately some Friskies sad turkey because of the lower phosphorus. I don't want to feed only that or the ff chicken because both contain fish. I don't see how Chi Chi could have blood in her stool and be feeling so good. I hope nothing is wrong. They can do a simple test to check for occult blood.
