4/19/20 - Gunky eyes? (might also be on a ride tonight)

Harley went in to the vet a bit over a week ago for gunky eyes. His visit came back complete clean bill of health, just in need of a dental that we scheduled. She assumed conjunctivitis caused from seasonal allergies. While on the antibiotic/steroid eye drops his BGs were crazy (steroids, of course, grr) but then came right back down. Also while on them his eyes were clear but 3 days later (today) his eyes are just as nasty as before.

Has anyone had experience with a cat having gunky eyes with nothing wrong and or seasonal allergies?

Also... decided to shoot a 139 because I have before... and nope... we are dropping rather quickly. I have plenty of strips, food, HC food, and honey if anything starts going south.

PMPS 139, +1 130, +2 87, +3 65

Hope everyone and their kitties are still hanging on in the interesting happenings going on in the world currently! I graduated with my master's this month and let me tell you - job seeking *sucks* right now. Pretty much impossible, besides looking, no one is interviewing. Even though mine is in health care. Huh.

Congrats on your masters. What kind of healthcare?

There must be many different products OTC. I haven't had this issue so don't know what to suggest.

Congrats on finishing your degree! The job search is hard, but at least you are ready for it.

When you say "gunky" eyes, is the seepage clear, coloured or ? was his eye red? Might want to add something like "gunky eyes question" to the subject line to attract interest of those who have seen it. Neko had one weepy eye, clear discharge, that was due to her acromegaly. Soft tissue growth blocked the tear duct. It didn't bother her at all.

It is presenting now how it came on when we went to the vets. It is, for the most part, clear, but a bit thicker than tears. In both eyes. Overnight and waking up from nap times is when he has a lot and it is colored. It seems to be white with a slight yellow tinge. No redness of the eye, no sneezing, no nose gunk. Eating drinking just fine. I did call the vets office back up today and they said the vet would be getting back to us by tomorrow.

Social Work, specializing in Behavioral Health so mental health care :) I did awhile in sever and persistent behavioral health and then in an emergency department and I think I like the health care aspect of mental health as well. So hoping to go towards that direction! :)

This may sound kinda out there, but when I adopted kittens from the shelter many years ago they were being treated for gunky eyes--pink eye, or whatever....I changed the type of litter I used and it cleared up without any further medication. (???) The same happened with Nova and her sneezing post Dx....I used the same litter for years, and thought...why not? No more sneezing.
