I am going to the ER with Simon just to make sure there is no major problem. He has thrown up quite a lot over the last hour and looks like he is straining to go to the bathroom. Back legs are extremely weak. There is not as much urine in the litter box as usual so I want to make sure there is no obstruction going on. He had some hard stool so it may be a case of constipation. He is just lying on the floor and doesn't look that well. Please send healing vines and prayers. Blood sugar is high (375) but he had just thrown up so I'm sure it is elevated because of that and possible pain. I will update when I know more.

Back from ER. Looks like it is the start of another pancreatitis flare up. Snap fPL test was abnormal. Everything else looks ok. Abdomen was a little painful. He got a cerenia shot and bupe. I will give fluids when I get home. He already gets daily fluids but vet wants me to bump up the amount tonight to 200 ml. I think that may be too much at one time. I think I will give 150 and see how he does with everything else in place. He ate pretty well when we got home and did a poo in the litterbox. Back legs still look pretty weak. Vet wanted me to give 1/2 the normal insulin since he was a few hours past the normal time for his shot. He was well over 300 tonight before the shot. I hope I didn't mess things up too much by giving him a little insulin and not totally skipping until tomorrow. I just finished giving him his fluids and bupe. I hope he will be ok tonight.

There was a cat at the ER tonight that was totally limp when they brought her in. The cat is diabetic and on lantus but owners don't test. It was a bad hypo event. Not sure the cat is going to make it. Very sad. It is so important to test so something like that can't happen to our babies. The ER had so many emergencies, I was there for 4 hours! Simon was so happy to be back home, even though Missy is hissing at her.

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support.

Sending feel better soon vines for Simon. Knowing what's wron is half the battle. Sending vine for the poor FD kitty at the ER too. It's rediculous not to test and worse that some vets are idiots enough to discourage it!

Keep feeling better and better, Simon! Georgia, I'm glad that you took him to the ER. So sad to hear about the cat who hypoed. I hope he/she recovers.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

I'm glad you got him in and got a diagnosis so quickly. Minka's oncologist said you shouldn't give more than 100 ml of fluids at a time, as it can strain the heart, so it's good you didn't give the whole 200. We've done 150 at a time before without issues, but Minka is so fragile now I wouldn't try it with her. Don't mean to scare you. If Simon wasn't having trouble breathing or otherwise appearing distressed during or after, I'm sure it's fine. We give 100 ml in the morning and 50 ml at night. Sending lots of healing vines. I hope this flair passes quickly. :bighug:
