Yesterday ended in an uproar for us: after AMBG of 95, and mid-day of 91, PMPG was 119  I'd had to practically push food into all day, because he is rejecting the new label FF, and I'm just about out of old label.

After that nasy PMBG, we got some 9 lives. He seems to be eating that. The carb content is the same as the FF, according to Janet & Binky's chart.

SOOOO.... no shot this morning. I will get a test 3-4 hours after he eats. That can be hard -- he likes to eat every two hours! Not sure how to handle that.

I AM SCARED! :YMSIGH: You were all wonderful yesterday, and I appreciate everyone's cheering us on very much.

Time to breathe. Maybe you should go to a movie or do something to keep yourself occupied so you're not sitting and staring at Kitty all day.

Re: 4/18 Kitty AMBG 117-Gum day #2

Hi Kathy-

Like I said before - take a look at Boomer's SS. He got blues - one as high as 150, but he's still chewing. The trial is really scary. A blue doesn't ruin everything. I think as long as he can bring himself down by eating he can have the blue numbers sometimes.

Get out those food charts!!! There's lots of low carb food out there. If I remember correctly I think PetSmart brand Sophisticat has a 0 carb turkey!!!!

Re: 4/18 Kitty AMBG 117-Gum day #2

Movie...would be nice. Maybe part of my problem is that I have extra work right now -- from home, but I'm on deadline.

Instead of a movie, I'll take three deep cleansing breaths -- closing my eyes each time, so that at least for THAT long, I'm not staring at the kitty!!! @-) Then I will go back to not breathing, which is what I've been doing since yesterday morning!

Traci, you are right, a trial is scary! Last night, for the first time in months, I snapped right back to the early days, when I was just certain that I was doing something to hurt Kitty -- too little of something, too much of something else -- no idea what, exactly, except that something bad was happening and it was all my fault. (Where's Joan when I need her? Wasn't everything HER fault???? )

Believe me, I have scoured Janet & Binky's charts. I made my own spreadsheet of everything with comparable nutritional qualities, under 5% carb, and tried every one. (Sophisticat = pukus.)

But miraculously, Kitty seems to like 9 Lives, which I had left to the last. We're feeding Chicken Dinner, which I am hoping is the same as Ground Chicken Dinner on Janet & Binky's charts: 39 57 4 0.4 364 159

Compared with FF Gourmet Chicken Feast:
Gourmet Chicken Feast 39 57 4 0.4 402 93.6

I will test before he eats again. (Sienne, maybe I can make my own movie: "Night of the Living OTJ Trial." A real nailbiter!!

Kathy
I said when max was on trial that I di not know which phase was worse.

I have to say this was the most nail biting, espacially when the blues would pop up.
Keep on chewing. Kitty, and you, are doing great!

Happy Day 2.

Re: 4/18 Kitty AMBG 117-Gum day #2

Don't fret the blues, Kathy....Take a look at Spot's ss also...he had some higher blues also and managed to bring himself down nicely. There were a few days I thought about aborting the trial, but we hung in there. We even extended our trial by a few days, just to make sure.

Things will be a-ok!

Re: 4/18 Kitty AMBG 117, +3 112 Gum day #2

At three hours after his breakfast, we got a 112. At least he came down a little, right?

Here's the good news: He likes 9 Lives!!! Bad news: Beating self up for not trying that sooner.

Note to self: Everyone says, Do not stress over numbers today. Listen to everyone. :-D

Re: 4/18 Kitty AMBG 117-Gum day #2

it takes some kitties up to 4 hours to bring themselves down when they first go otj.
try a spot check at +4 tomorrow to see if there's a difference...

Re: 4/18 Kitty AMBG 117, +3 112-Gum day #2

Thanks, Jill. My question: The reason I tested him at +3 is that he was ready to eat again. I figured -- especially after yesterday! -- that I shouldn't withhold food just to test him at +4 since eating.

So i guess I'll just be on the prowl to catch him at the longest time (up to 4 hours) after eating, but feed him when he wants to eat, regardless.

Right?

Go Kitty go! Looking pretty good today, but I know it's nerve-wracking for you, Kathy. Hang in there, and the two weeks will be over before you know it (antijinx)!

This is 3.5 hours past his last mini-meal.

And did I mention...

Sienne, Kitty is handling this MUCH better than I am!! He is sacked out in the sun and about as relaxed as a creature can be. I must study the Way of the Cat.

this is going to be a long 2 weeks, isn't it.

you and Kitty are doing fine. I understand though. On Lucy's first day of her trial, she threw me a 100 and I was ready to grab a syringe. Then I realized how much everybody here would make fun of me for doing that, so I didn't.

Happy day two!

P.S. start gathering up some photos ;-)

Re: 4/18 Kitty PMBG 88! 88! 88! Gum day #2

88!!!!!

And he had even eaten a few bites about 90 minutes earlier.

Libby, if I'm lucky, maybe no one will make fun of me either. (Did I sound concerned at my first triple-digit PMBG? Naw, not me. )
