Hello, Hello!

Yes, Eeyore and I are still alive. We had a bit of a hiatus due to the fact that I had to have my appendix (which ruptured) unexpectedly removed! My husband was able to monitor and care for Eeyore while I was in the hospital, but he wasn't also able to update here on the board. Fortunately he recorded all the times and BGL readings and I am now feeling better enough to catch up on everything! I haven't been the only one taking a turn for the worse, because Eeyore too has gone back to his bouncy, tricky ways this past week. His schedule wasn't changed, and I have been here at the house with him the past several days recovering so I don't think I can say all of it is due to some stress. Especially, since he has been out of his "green phase" of numbers for 9 days now. I had been slowly decreasing his dose this past month because he kept getting good numbers and adjusting well to the reductions. I did however decide to push him back up again to 1.50 yesterday because he was just not clearing the numbers and I waited well over 5 cycles to give him the chance to. Seeing those blacks start popping up again led me to increase him. So far it hasn't helped, I may need to increase him even more.
 
I hope you're feeling a lot better. Yeesh. That must have been an awful experience.

I wouldn't worry about the increase. Many kitties' doses go up and down until you zero in on what's a good dose. I also wouldn't dismiss that some of this is due to stress. Eeyore knew something was wrong.
 
Could also be what we call New Dose Wonkiness (NDW)

Sometimes for whatever reason, when you go up in dose, it takes several cycles for them to settle in. If you're not getting better nadir numbers soon, he may also just need more juice.

Glad you're back from the hospital and on the mend! Must have been scary for you and Eeyore too!

I really hope the dosecrease gets Eeyore back into the greens quickly (but safely).

yikes on your appendix! are you feeling better now?

i think it also looks like 1.25u just wasn't enough. He almost immediately stopped having green numbers after the dose was reduced on the 8th. When he cleared the bounce from his low numbers on the 9th, he only got to 94 and he's been higher ever since. Good you went back to 1.5u. Hopefully this will be better for him.
 
Melanie, I hope you are feeling wonderful again very soon. I've heard that the ruptured appendix if very painful.. Sending you lots of white healing light.

I think Jule is right. She's looked at Eeyore's SS. I bet a steady bump up back to the 1.5u could help him again.

I am on the mend and getting back to physical activity. I have a half marathon coming up and this little speed bump was NOT in the plans :) I will say, for all the patients I've had in the ER for appendicitis and ruptured appendix, I can appreciate why they all scream and moan!

Hopefully E will get back to himself this weekend. We had to post pone his bday meal (a rotisserie chicken, that he would eat entirely if I allowed it) but will be celebrating this next week. Gotta make these years special since he is gettin up there. Eeyore turned 16 this past Wednesday!
