All is well w/Curry.

I moved Sid's food bowl closer to Curry's last night. She had been a bit skittish lately....6 feet apart was way to close for her. Plus my "heavy walkers" upstairs had their grandchildren over the last two weekends. The kiddos have left.... So we are back to 8 feet apart this morning and maybe 7.5 tonight.

For my listening enjoyment it went like this: run, run, run, run, thump, thump, THUMP.............BANG......run, run, run, run, run, run.....THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP....CRASH

"Heavy walkers" admit to not being able to control their little ones and suggested I move. The manager was MOST supportive when she told me that I was lucky they didn't live there but only visited once a month. I'm not a mathmatician, but 2 weekends in a row is not once a month. Of course I thanked them for validiating my experience. Then after my discussion w/the manager the noise seemed to increase over the course of the evening. Its too bad the apartment complex doesn't have a playground for the kids so they can blow off some steam. Me, I just go bike.

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Hi Tena and Curry! :-D Sounds as if there are some noisy weekends at your place....I am sorry....guess people who live upstairs have no idea what it sounds like below....or maybe they just don't care....sigh....

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Hi Tena. I'm glad Curry is well in Curryland. :-D

I hear ya on the upstairs neighbors. My mom was always shushing us, as kids. Too bad others aren't more sensitive to neighbors. Kids will be kids, but a little consideration is nice.

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Hi guys! oh the joys of appt living, and people that can't control their little ones... I wish you luck, and am glad to have an avenue of escape. I love it how we are always the ones that should move, not them. shesshh!

YAY!! on the all is well in Curry Land. Sounds like things are coming along with Sid and Curry. small steps, but progress is progress and good deal! Very nice numbers too for Curry. :-D

Happy Sunday!

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

sounds like party central over there. I don't know if I could stand it.

Curry is looking very nice this morning. Hope you guys have a great and quiet Sunday

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Curry is doing GREAT!! Sorry about the upstairs kids!! Hope they stay home for a while!!
We lived under a deaf woman who BLASTED the tv, & walked like an elephant!! We fought with her almost every day!!--TENA, get some earplugs, that's what I did

BTW My DH is in Richardson Texas this week at his sisters! They are near Dallas-

Have a good Sunday!! Big Huggies

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Hi Tena, I've had similar experiences living in apartments over the years. My downstairs neighbors love me, as I'm always so quiet. Yes, too bad they just don't take them out for the day. Curry is looking good this Sunday morn!

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Just saw your website--You are Soooo talented!!! I had a photo published in photography magazine in 1989!
Love taking Pix--Great job Tena!!

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Perhaps the manager would support a suggestion that the people upstairs install more insulation under the carpet or, if there's hardwood, that they buy rugs to deaden the sound.

Great start for Curry. Maybe the noise is contributing to Curry being skittish.

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Glad to see Curry is doing so well!! Hope she and Sid will break through that barrier soon.

Uck on the apartment ordeal. The world is full of inconsiderate people....how sad. Hope you enjoyed your bike ride.

Please share. I would love to see your photo.

Photography is such a wonderful hobby for me. Especially since the invention of the digital camera as I can get great feedback on my composition while I'm shooting. And you can't beat the good ole delete button. I especially enjoy photography as it allows me to really stop and look at the object or landscape that's captured my attention. This process enables me to slow down for a moment and take in the world around me. So I guess photography is my meditative practice. Then, of course, I like playing around in photoshop with some of the photos after I shoot.

Re: 4/17 Curry~102

Hi Tena & Curry,
Great AMPS, Curry!!
Fabulous photos, Tena. You have a wonderful eye.

Noisy neighbors: No matter where you are, they're there too. We've had them everywhere we've lived: the guy upstairs in our Greenwich Village tenement who played Bob Dillon at 3 A.M. while beating time on the floor with a spoon (this was in the '60s) and shot pornographic movies on the fire escape with floodlight illumination; "Brute Family", across the air shaft, screaming at each other all the time; street football on our Brooklyn street at midnight, a favorite pursuit of teenage boys; the backyard neighbor who did her telephoning outdoors at 2 A.M. in very loud tones annoying the whole quiet neighborhood; the cook in the Chinese restaurant in back who would finish for the night at midnight and go outside and scream! (There are more, but these are the most memorable. We, apparently, are very quiet: our downstairs neighbors in our Brooklyn building used to worry that we were dead!)

Have a great day and rejoice that the weekend is almost over and the kiddies will go home!

took me a minute to find your website - first i went to curry's profile! your photos are wonderful - you are very talented. surely that's not the texas coast, is it? it looks so very northwest, although i didn't recognize any of the shots. i've been to the Alabama gulf coast and it surely doesn't look like your photos, but have never been to the texas coast. all that moss looks very northwest-ish.

anyway, long way of saying were are the coastal shots taken?

       I feel better already. Your tales certain trump mine. Thanks Ella.
When I lived on the second floor last year my neighbor would compliment me on how quiet I was......I didnt understand what she meant until now.

OK. We are going on 3 months since the girls had the feline intercat aggression incident. About 2.5 months since the Vet Behavorist visit to provide some guidelines for reintrduction. I've decided to step up the controlled exposures. Had Curry in the crate in the living room while Sid watched from a safe 24 feet away. Curry is comfortable there and doesn't struggle to get out now. Fed Curry her favorite freezed dried chicken treats during this exposure. Curry totally ignored Sid. That is excellent. Sid didn't hiss, but just watched. Another good sign and she didn't run away. I was suppose to start this phase when the girls had reached the 4 feet apart mark during their regular feeding times. But they need more opportunities to see one another while one is engaged in some activity. No time like the present.

thank you. The delete button on my digital camera is my best friend.

You are right the Northwest coast it is. Had gone to Olympic National Park in Washington a few years back. The west coast is one of my favorites to photograph.

Re: 4/17 Curry~102 +5-65

I am glad to hear of the prgress you are making with the aggression, and I also very much enjoyed your website. Very beautiful photos!

Re: 4/17 Curry~102 +5-65

Sorry about the noise makers upstairs. That has got to be very annoying. Curry is looking great though! Hope you are able to get some quite and relaxation in today. Have a great day guys!

Re: 4/17 Curry~102 +5-65

Curry is looking fabulous today!

I know it must be terrible to have to hear all that noise upstairs and it is so typical of the apt. people to always make us feel like the bad people. When I was single, I lived in a little apartment and the guy upstairs had strange looking people coming into his apt. at all hours of the night and day and there was lots of noise and music involved. I complained and complained to the apt. people and they all said "he is such a nice guy and I don't know why you are so upset". I ended up giving my notice to move and the same week I was moving, the guy upstairs got arrested for drug dealing in his apartment! So much for being such a nice guy.

Re: 4/17 Curry~102 +5-65

Curry is giving you some nice numbers today...

So sorry about the loud folks upstairs. Not much you can do about it if they won't be considerate of your requests.

I did a pet sit for an apartment style condo and the husband had actually gone through and installed sound deadening material on the walls and ceiling. They did it because they were having a baby and didn't want to disturb everyone else with a crying baby at all hours of the night. I think they did it so all the extraneous noise wouldn't disturb the sleeping baby.

Re: 4/17 Curry~PMPS~101 Curry clicker training video

Okie dokie.

I'm trying to keep up w/all the young folks out there uploading their kitty videos to utube.

So here's one of Curry laying down on command using the clicker to mark the correct behavior I want followed by a treat. She'll do anything for a treat. Then this tupid bean was uploading the video and had forgotten that I left the bedroom door open. Sidney started to come out and Curry was standing right there. Curry started to howl but didnt chase Sidney. Geez. I almost screwed up 3 months worth of work w/these kitties.

Anyway this is my first attempt at using the video. The lighting is horrid but you can get the idea.

Re: 4/17 Curry PMPS 101 Curry in clicker training video

That video absolutely made my night!!!!! Curry is a smart (and beautiful) kitty. I'm sorry it still isn't resolved yet. Give Curry and Sid a hug from me.

Awesome video....what a smart girl Curry is. Gracie would be saying "you want me to do what? I know you'll give me the treat anyway....".

cute video - curry is so beautiful! her face is just so sweet.

i thought it had to be the NW, but not the oregon coast. i've been to the olympic peninsula a couple of times but wouldn't recognize it. it (understatement of the year) rains a lot there! we went camping there with the kids one time and the mosquitoes were so bad we packed up and left. the rain didn't exactly persuade us to try to stay longer, either.

wow on the apartment stories.

Ahhh, yes. Apartment living. My upstairs neighbor has decided he's going to live in the hood while having a fully tricked out apartment and a porsche out front. (idiot. seriously... so waiting for that thing to get broken into.). When he's playing x-box, he is jumping around so much, it fries my lightbulbs in the ceiling fan, AND even the floodlights in the dining room. I've replaced them 3 times this year already... 3 bulbs in the fixture, to the tune of $7/bulb per pop. I am not pleased.

Love the video!!! Will be checking out your photos tomorrow... but for now, it's off to bed!!
