Blessings go out to all those affect by yesterday's bombings in Boston. Such tragedy.

Good morning all,

WCR: SOMEONE was extra obnoxious this morning before my alarm went off. Well, she had to wait a little longer as I had to take a quick shower (was not allowed to shower after the injection). She is now eating her 2nd breffis. :-D When ingot out of the shower, she gave good head rubs and head butts and was very talkative (most likely telling me to hurry the hell up!) Her appy is ok (needs a little vocal encouragement, but it's ok). Got in some play and preening last night. 1/2 action in the LB (pee). Got a few purrs along w/ the head butts.

Question: Shasta's balance has been very shaking lately...mostly when she climbs over things...well, more like when she stumbles over things. She's ok walking on the floor or along the couch as long as the surface is flat. She is able to jump up on the couch, etc. without any problems, but when she walks all over me ( ), it's like she's on a slip-n-slide. She's not walking on her hocks, so I don't think this is neuropathy. But I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I know that B-12 is used for neuropathy. Would it be bad for me to start her on B-12(methy...)?

Ok, off to get myself ready for work. Blessings to all the beans and kitties, especially the very handsome Mannie. Take care today.

I'm sure it wasn't just the fuds. I'm sure she wanted to spend some time with you too. I hope Shasta slides down for you today. I don't have any suggestions on the balance thing. Maybe you should put it as a question in your subject line.

Re: 4/16 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=287

J.D. is wobbily a lot too, sometimes even on flat surfaces.

I hope you have a good day.

Re: 4/16 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=287 +1.5=229 Balance ?

No ideas about the walking. I hope you get it figured it out. Nice sunny start for sassy Shasta. Have a wonderful day Deborah!

Re: 4/16 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=287 +1.5=229 Balance ?

Methyl B-12 can't hurt. Whatever Shasta's body doesn't use is excreted.

I'd suggest talking to your vet about Shasta's being unsteady on her feet. It could be something like arthritis but there's no way to know.

Re: 4/16 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=287 +1.5=229 Balance ?

Hi, Deborah, It sounds like Shasta was feeling extra perky this morning!

Thank you for Ripley's Birthday wishes last night! :-D

Ripley's a little wobbly over uneven surfaces, like you described with Shasta; she sometimes even loses her footing, and has rolled off the couch several times  . My vet attributes it to her getting older (she's no spring chicken anymore). It's worth having it checked out, as Sienne said.

I hope you guys have a great day!

Re: 4/16 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=287 +1.5=229 Balance ?

Hi guys .. sunny yellows for shasta this morning! No advice from me on the balance issue .. a vet check probably wouldn't hurt .. have a great day guys!

Re: 4/16 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=287 +1.5=229 Balance ?

We give zobaline (B12) to Zener, 3 mg pill BID. It definitely helped when he had peripheral neuropathy. He has poor balance from the cerebellar hypoplasia so I don't know if it helped with that. I think it's helping a bit with his digestion issues too (stomach motility) but maybe I am just being optimistic.

Lets see some blue tonight, Shasta. How are you feeling, Deborah?
Liz

Re: 4/16 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=287 +1.5=229 Balance ?

HI Deborah - how are you feeling? Did the shot help at all? The insistent cats before meal time crack me up. Leo will cry, walk around my legs and trip me, and I'm trying to tell him that I'M GETTING IT if you'd stop TRIPPING ME!

... oh my I just read the feeding thing ... and I had just written up there about Leo doing the figure 8's around my legs! I am pegged! That is funny :-D Thanks for sharing.

Re: 4/16 Shasta PMPS=313 +2=191 +3.5=155 Balance ?

Hi Carla, she totally wanted fuds...not mama love!

Hi Dyana, so far, Shasta's mostly wobbly on "rough terrain"...then again, I have moments on flat ground that I'm wobbly, so I'm not sure who is doing better. Shasta or me?! :-D

Hey Melissa, had a good day today. Now I need to get motivated to take a shower and get to bed. :YMSIGH: But there's so much left to do tonight! :-D

Hi Sienne, thanks for the Methyl B-12 information. I will order some asap.

Hey Josie, hope Ripley had a great birthday. Every once in a while, Shasta falls off the couch, too. Usually it's because she rolls off it while attacking my hand or trying to look cute!

Not that I don't want the vet to check it out, but when we go to the vet's, she because Super Evil Cat: she hunkers down and doesn't move, will take off a limb if they come need her to draw blood, etc. and forget the x-ray...people would die. :YMSIGH: Oh sassy cat.

Hi Devon, we're having a nice blue evening after our very ugly pink pmps. Hope you guys had a great day!

Hey Liz, I think that since the B-12 has several benefits and excess is excreted, I'll give it a try! Sweet Zener ;-) As for me, the side effects were minimum this injection. No hives...until tonight, but I think it has more to do with sweating while feeding the horses and getting hay on my arms. I feel like my leg feels better. I was actually able to jog a few steps out in the pasture without feeling like my leg was going to give out. It's the little things that make me happy!

Hi Lisa with the OTJ cat!!! I'm feeling ok today. I keep trying to tell my brain that I feel better and my leg feels better and I'm gaining more feeling in my foot...but I'm not totally sure if all that is for real. I was able to jog a few steps in the pasture...that's a step in the right direction (puns intended!) Although, if I keep bending to pick things up, I'll never get better. I must teach Shasta to pick up her own bowls and clean the floor!

Hope everyone is having a good night. Sleep well and scritches to the kitties!

B vitamins are water soluble so anything the body doesn't need, it pees out.
