She hasn't had any insulin since Wednesday morning. I have a question though. Jill and D suggested withholding insulin for two days and then getting off to a fresh start with 0.25 units of Lev (she's been on Lantus). I'm not going to be here much on Sunday to monitor her. Since she enjoys hanging out in the lowlands when she's on insulin, should I wait until Monday to start the Lev?

I'd wait for Jill on the final answer here.
I was thinking, maybe you might shoot 0.1u until Monday. JoJo says you can't have a full blown hypo on 0.1u.
By getting some insulin into her, it might bring the range down a little and possibly tell us if she is a micro-dose kitty.
Good to see you!

I think the numbers you get today and tomorrow morning are going to give you better insight into the answer.

I would be a concerned about 9 cycle rebound test unless her numbers (without insulin) start coming down.

And .25U is going to be much lower than the 1U that threw her into a hypo zone.

It's nice to consider all the alternatives, but I think time will give you more info.

hi missy. is kitty's ss updated? am curious to see if rebound is breaking yet.
i wouldn't wait past tomorrow night to start insulin if the numbers haven't come down. i think you'll be ok with a starting dose of 0.25u (if she needs it), but i don't want to commit until i see more data...

Re: 4/16 Foster Cat Kitty 297 Now

She finally ventured out of the bathroom tonight. We sat on the floor in my bedroom together for a long time while I brushed her, and she purred nonstop. Then she decided to check out the kitchen and ran head-on into Trista, my tiny, long-haired evil fluff ball. Trista, who weighs about six pounds soaking wet and is mostly fur, chased poor Kitty back into my bedroom. At least she stopped in the closet and didn't retreat all the way into the bathroom. I really thought Trista and Kitty would become friends because Trista likes older cats. Maybe not...

The litter in her box is big wet spots, not clumps, which makes me think she's peeing more than she should. We have normal, not liqui-poo today, but it's a sort of gray color. Still, I'm hoping that the GI problem, whatever it is, is resolving itself.

was hoping the numbers would have come down, but they still may. i'd plan on giving her insulin tomorrow night unless the numbers tell you otherwise tomorrow. i really wouldn't wait til monday to start lev if she continues running this high.

trista and kitty might still become friends. stranger things have happened! :-D

So I'll give her 0.25 units tomorrow night?

Trista and I had a talk about being kind to old, sick cats who are just visiting. She's thinking about it.

tomorrow, if her numbers stay up where they are now, i would go ahead and give her 0.25u tomorrow night.
by waiting, you're giving the bounce a full 72 hours to clear.
0.25u is a lot less insulin the the 1u which dropped her so low for so long...
